And play roughly the same amount of games from here on out, do you think it is likely that Crosby finishes with more points than McDavid?

Both have 75 games remaining.

it'll be close. I say Mcdavid will finish with more though.

A 10 point lead is significant in this case since they are both so close, so this season probably McDavid. Would it surprise me if Crosby still outscored him though? Not remotely. After that it gets interesting and just depends on how much Crosby declines and how much McDavid improves. For all we know Crosby could be better the next 5 seasons, or maybe he won't be from this moment on. Neither are far fetched in my mind.

10 points is a lot but it's not impossible.

I say the odds favor McDavid. But Crosby can catch him. 70-30 odds.

who cares. Both are my number 1 and 2 favorite players. Crosby may lead the league in scoring hopefully if he stays healthy, but Connor McDavid is doing great now too.

Pens are my second favorite team too lol, so all around good things are happening. I hope Crosby stays healthy and these 2 exchange the league lead in points all year

It'll be tight, but missing 6 games is quite a lot at this point in Crosby's career if he wants to win another art ross. Crosby has 67 points in 53 games under Mike Sullivan not counting playoffs, so if he maintains that pace that would be 96 points in 76 games for him this season. Although we have yet to see how Mcdavid holds up over a full season, so it could end up closer than people think.

It's going to be very difficult and probably not very likely. McDavid has ~100 point pace since returning from his injury.

Crosby's gotta play the whole season like a 100+ point player to beat him. And even then McDavid has a decent chance to shatter 100 himself.

Crosby is starting to have age catching up with him I think, I wouldn't be surprised to see McDavid beat him but I don't want him to

Not really. Despite injuries that have slowed him and make him play safer and preserve himself more Crosby is still scoring at 100+ point paces with competent coaches despite scoring dropping and him improving his defensive game considerably.

That's a HUGE "if" for Crosby. With his concussion history, no way he lasts the entire season (aaaaaand here come the Penguin apologists).

You mean here comes the facts?

McDavid missed more games his rookie year than Crosby has in the last four seasons.

The last three years Crosby has played: 80, 77, 80 games

He only missed a handful during the lockout season as well and that was ****** luck of catching a puck in the jaw.

He's been incredibly durable since coming back from his misdiagnosed neck injury.

Very true. Funny seeing the different perceptions though.

I think this was Crosby's last best chance to win an Art Ross, and the early injury this year kind of messed that up.

No, not really. The only significant time he's missed over the past 4 seasons was due to a slapshot that broke his jaw, and over the past 3 seasons, he's played 80, 77, and another 80 games.

If I had to guess I would think Crosby will get about 83 points in the remaining 75 games, where as I think McDavid will get about 85 in 75 games. McDavid finished with 95, Crosby 83.

Crosby can operate at 1.5-2ppg pace in half season spurts.

Similar to how Ovechkin can close a 10-15goal gap in 15~ games, can't count these guys out.

McDavid already has a 10 point head start so I'd definitely say it's him. The kid is a offence producing machine.

Unless Crosby goes 2010-2011 demon mode I don't think he's topping McDavid.
