Other than being the worst idea ever...
1. He'd play struggling players and goalies way too much...like McCollum. Something tells me he'd be a guy Leyland would try to "put confidence in."
2. He'd get ejected every other road trip. Already does in baseball, why not hockey?
3. When the Wings were in an intense battle for playoff position he'd randomly sit Zetterberg to rest him.
4. Would be kicked out of the Joe for smoking.
5. Red Wings would never be able to hold a lead late in the 3rd period, would become known for pulling Valverdes.

Managing in Baseball and Coaching in Hockey are two entirely different things. People well versed in Baseball, unlike the OP, understand that most Managers in Baseball manage by the same book and will do the same questionable things. It's hard to rag on Jim Leyland playing Raburn, Inge, and Boesch when all he had were Raburn, Inge, and Boesch. They still made it to the World Series. Look, Jim Leyland and Mike Babcock are two of the most well regarded managers in their respective sports. Coaches do questionable things all the time. I don't deny that. Give them some respect. They know what they're doing 95% of the time.
