How old were you?

Also:

The last time the Oilers made the playoffs...

...Samuel L. Jackson was in Snakes on a Plane

...HeadOn was a thing

...Wii and PS3 were just released

..."bringing sexy back" was a phrase

...Tom Cruise believed in Scientology and jumped on a couch on Oprah

...Crocs were introduced to the market

...a Russian spy was poisoned with radioactive polonium and died

...Stephen Colbert introduced the word "truthiness"

How old were you?

What were you doing?

What was your reaction?

I'll be honest, I was in bed looking at my cell phone refreshing HF like mad, then when I saw the responses I straight up started laughing out loud for a solid 2 minutes.

I'm a 22 year old that hasn't seen an Oilers playoff game since I was 13.

Would be pretty nice if I could catch a playoff game sometime in my "party years" but I won't get my hopes up.

I was turning 21. First year in college. Living in Montreal at the time and had to hear it from my friends who are Habs fans and winning the cup would have shut them up. Unfortunately it never happened.

Speaking of GoT, we should start an over/under on George R. R. Martin finishing the series or the Oilers finishing their rebuild.

I mean, WoW was supposed to be released either last year or this year, and it looks like it'll be next year.... but he did release a chapter recently and I think the TV series might pressure him enough to get it out by December. Then, A Dream of Spring by 2018? Optimistic, I'm sure, no more foolhardy than than hoping the Oilers will be in the playoffs by 2017-2018, I believe.

I was 13. Just moved to Edmonton from rural Alberta. Lived on Whyte Ave. Not much sleeping was had due to loudness. Was an Oilers fan, so it was completely alright. No TV till playoffs. I remember streaming the radio link to SJ vs Vancouver to see if we'd make the playoffs at 11. It was so rad.

I was 25. Still in school. Not married yet. No kids yet.

Pretty much everything is different for me compared to then, including my hairline which is going towards MacT territory.

This was the hot **** for cell phones back then

And actually none of the PS3, Wii were out then, those launched in fall of 2006, the XBox 360 was out though, lol.

Facebook wasn't really a thing back let alone Twitter, Instagram, etc. I remember some girl asking me to add her on MySpace and telling her I didn't have a MySpace account, lol.

Barack Obama was still a junior senator, if you said then he'd be president of the United States in two years people would've laughed at you.

I was 18, i got that 400 ralph bucks and spent my spring getting drunk at the druid and eating 10 cent wings.

and now the oilers are likely not going to make the playoffs for my entire 20s.

ugh

My son is almost 10 and we have yet to watch an Oilers playoff game together.

And I think my Oilers car flag from 2006 has 2 feet of dust collected on it

I was 28 in the Spring of 06, no kids, no pets...just me and my wife. We got a puppy later that summer and she, like the Oilers management, now spends most of her days laying around sleeping.

My 7.5 year old son wasn't even conceived yet.

There may be a whole generation that lives their entire youth without seeing an Oilers playoff game.

I was in my late 30's. Crazy to think I might just go through my 40's without an Oilers playoff game.

My daughter was in Kindergarden. Next year she is going in to grade 9. I wonder if she will finish high school before the Oilers make the playoffs.

Pathetic.
