Draisaitl - McDavid - Stone. Need i say more? With cap savings on Sekera and Spooner, you have $16M in capspace the next year, allowing you to resign stone and Ceci (~$10-$12M) and a bit left to sign guys like Kharia and Chaisson, and maybe being able to look at FA.

OTT Gets their non-lottery protected 1st, that has a decent chance at being 5-15 pick, with a slim chance of 1-5, and when Sekera is healthy can play in Ceci's Spot. They also get prospect in Pulijarvi, and a goalie that can tandem with Anderson or take over if Anderson is traded. They also get a nice prospect in Bear, and have the cap space to take Spooner. The 2020 2nd is just to make taking the cap hits easier, and more picks for a rebuilding team.

This was an attempt at branching out so I might be very wrong on my player evaluations​

Why? If Stone doesnt want to re-sign with OTT then there arent really any teams with better 1st round picks that will offer for him, especially unprotected 1st for a rental.

That's taking on a lot of average/below average players for a star. Plus their contracts. It's not worth it just to get a higher pick. Plus with Stone on McD's wing that pick could go lower quickly.

With Anderson and Nilsson already on the team and then a trio of signed goalies in the minors, Talbot is certainly not what the Sens need and, thus, feels a little like an unwanted Edmonton castaway.

Definitely not. Talbot isn’t, and Sekera might not be (we’ll have to see how he plays when he comes back). There’s definitely one. Maybe two

Edmonton packaging Puli+1st+prospect+cap for stone and a secondary piece is something that would work good for both sides.
A lot of variables though.



Also wondering why Ottawa has no interest in Talbot? You realize you do need a goalie right? Anderson is shit/retiring, and Talbot is much better than the past year he's had in Edmonton.

The cap dumps make no difference for a team who will struggle to even hit the cap floor next year, and if Stone doesnt want to re-sign in Ottawa, you might as well get an ATLEAST mid 1st pick, a roster prospect, a goalie that has played amazingly and can still probably put up near league average goaltending for when anderson shits the bed/retires, and another defensive prospect who will probably be better than Ceci anyways, and a 2nd. All for a rental that probably doesnt want to resign in OTT anyways

Since when is 35 games (Talbot) a cap dump . Sekera is/was our best D in our playoff year . If he returns to 60 % of what he was he is worth 4 million so slightly overpaid . If he can’t return he helps your cheap owner get to the cap floor . Spooner is useless this year so yeah he is a cap dump but if by some maracle he returns to his 50 points ways he a bargain . So yeah some risk but there risk Stone don’t resign
