Don't blame them at all. Those two are only getting better and will bet on themselves having an even better year this season and more money in their pocket. Makes sense.....

Not sure about Matthews, but it makes a lot of sense for Marner. Right now, he's in the $6.5-$7 mil range (Pastrnak.) Marner was a PPG scorer in the 2nd half, IIRC, and if he does that over a full season, he could find himself in the $8.5-$9mil range (Kane adjusted for cap inflation.)

EDIT: I'm referring to Patrick Kane's 2nd contract.

lol silly leaf homers actually think these guys are going to sign cheap.

matthews marner nylander will get PAID. probably overpaid. but that's fine, if anyone is supposed to get overpaid it's your star players.

it wont affect your team much unless you start overpaying bottom 6 forwards like Lucic or bottom pairing D like Russell.

If the cap goes up to $85M next summer, Matthews’ agent could point to McDavid’s 16.67% of the cap contract at the time it was signed and suggest that his client deserves 15% of the cap, or $12.75M.

Smart move by the kids if true.
