Nice effort by the team…. That was a tighter game than we may have expected earlier in the season…. Montreal has a very good line there with Slav coming along and looking like the high draft position was warranted. He didn’t tear it up in his rookie year and had to figure out how to play in the league. He was dangerous out there, the whole line was all night…

They still have work to do to be a consistent winner. But that Habs team has definitely got some pieces now and won’t be a pushover for much longer at all….

Now, there are definitely players who have put big bonus payments in years where escrow was anticipated to be lower, but the signing bonus will be subject to the same rate for escrow as every other payment in the year it is paid.

Bonuses do make you lockout proof as they are paid regardless of whether hockey is played that year. But they are still absolutely subject to escrow.

Yeah, that's honestly what I think we'll see. Guentzel is going to get some offers he's going to have to think long and hard about turning down, and we're not going to be in the ballpark of what some other teams will be able to offer. Everyone's expecting the cap to go up long term, I fully expect that to be an 8 digit AAV.

And I'd pay it too. But it's going to take some uncomfortable tradeoffs. But if you let Turbo go and bridge Jarvis, it's likely a pill you can swallow.

L’expansion de la NHL dans le sud et ses conséquences ont été un désastre pour la course aux partisans du hockey. Since December 12th after the players only meeting, the Canes have the 2nd best sv % in the NHL at 91.77%. WPG is at 92.15% in first. Seattle (91.75) and Florida (91.48) are the only other 2 better than 91%.

Also since then Carolina is:
- league's best with 2.17 GA/GP(next best is 2.38)
- league's best with 89.5% PK (next best is 85.2%)
- league's best PP at 30.8% (next best is 29.4%)
- league's best P% at .750 (next best is EDM at .734). That's a 123 pt., 82 game pace
- league's best RW at 28 (next best is 25)
- league's best ROW at 32 (tied with EDM, Dallas is next with 30)

His last two games have been his best in a long while. He's still snakebit as all hell, but at least he's noticable on the ice now.

It was.

He was trying to create on his own out there which I don't see as a bad thing playing with Staal.

Lots of moves from the half wall driving to the slot to get some shots. If that line can combine that with turbo and Staal finding him in soft spots in the zone he could look more dangerous.

I think what helped him is he doesn't feel the need to defer to anyone on that line on offense and he simplified his game.
