I thought this was at least thread-worthy because this is the first time since relocation that this franchise has earned a playoff berth 3 seasons in a row, for the franchise as a whole this is the 2nd time, Whalers participated in the playoffs every season from 1985-86 to 1991-92.

We've come a long way since Dundon bought the team. The days we were hoping to Fail for Nail (Yakupov) are a distant memory now!

Ever since someone pointed out that this whole run of success started on Whalers Night, I have come to really love the symmetry of that narrative. It's like we exorcised some actual goddamn ghosts that night.

Canes are 2 points up in the division with 1 game in hand on Tampa and 2 on Florida. Given that we only have 8 games in the season, and Florida and Tampa still have to play twice, things are starting to look really good in our favor for the division.

Exactly. Looking back, we were 14-15-5 going into that game. I remember the mood was like "well this season sucks already, but at least we have this goofy fun thing to enjoy while we die inside".

Little did we know then, we'd cross back over .500 about two weeks later and not see the wrong side of it again.

The Canes have only lost one game this year by more than 2 goals and it was against Tampa who scored an ENG with 35 seconds left.

The Canes have been in every single game this year. No blowouts. Pretty damn impressive. There are essentially just 35 seconds in this entire season where the guys on the ice could think "this is over".

Compare that to Tampa where 7 of 14 regulation losses were by more than 3 goals. 7-2 loss to Nashville. 5-1 loss to Detroit. A few -3 and -4 goal differential losses to the Canes.

Edit: just saw the same thing basically posted in the News thread last night. Already been pointed out. TBF I mentioned it already a couple weeks ago.
