I.e any team can trade for any player at any point, even before game 7 of the Stanley Cup Finals
Playoff bound teams would wait longer to make trades for cap flexibility. Then they'd trade away every asset they had after the season ends, bringing in hugely expensive players when there is no cap in the playoffs. As teams got deeper into the playoffs they would continue to add talentuntil in the finals you basically had two super teams adding everything they can because there is no cap and they are in the finals.
In short, it would be a horrible idea.
I'm pretty sure if they dumped the TDL, other rules would change to compensate. First one would be to extend the cap into the playoffs to prevent the kind of escalation you described. That would reduce the mayhem, but we'd still see some weird trades – any player, no matter how good, could be traded the moment they're injured for a lesser but healthier player.Playoff bound teams would wait longer to make trades for cap flexibility. Would be pretty crazy to see teams in the finals get reinforcements in the middle of series. The prices would be sky high as it would be the seller's market. "Do you want to win the cup? Give us those 1st rounders and your top prospect".
lots of trades right after the last games are playedI.e any team can trade for any player at any point, even before game 7 of the Stanley Cup Finals
the ignoring or the cap is making the league look like a mickey mouse league. I believe the Knights have to wait to more games before they can activate Hertl to stay under the cap.It would cement itself as a Mickey Mouse league. The original XFL would look more professional in comparison.
