How much worse were the 12-13 Devils than the 11-12 Devils?

Yup in the shootout we went like 6 for 29. That's just astronomically bad. I wonder if anyone else had a lower conversion percentage on the shootout than that? That's averaging 0.67 goals scored in each shootout. 6 in 9 shootouts.

The goaltending was really bad too, but the shooting was much worse. As horrible as the goaltending was, the shooting percentage didn't even come near it. In one of the shootouts we won, we needed Moose to stop all 3 shooters too.

That is pretty much THE place where you can really **** on the goaltending though. They were horrid in shootouts and barely if ever stopped a shot.

We weren't scoring either, so you can argue both ways, but it isn't good that your goalie is giving up every shot in almost every shootout.

The goaltending on the PK can definitely be crapped on. They were the worst in the NHL on the PK, but meanwhile the Devils were still able to manage 16th best because of their shot preventing abilities.

I'd be interested to see how soon into a power play the goals were on average given up. The low amount of shots against on the PP could be attributed to power plays against ending very quickly, but I can't say for sure.

26.8 shots against per game in 2011-12
23.1 shots against per game in 2012-13

That's a big difference lol...this year's goaltending with another four shots per game would have been scary.

It's shots against per 60 minutes of PK time.

Devils were second best in the NHL at preventing shots on the PK last season (37 per 60 minutes), yet their goalies were the second worst at stopping shots on the PK.

At even strength the Devils only allowed 22.5 shots per 60 minutes last season, best in the NHL.
