Depends. Are Messier and Kurri staying too? If Kurri and Mess stayed as well, I don't think 7 or 8 are out of reach. They likely could have gotten by Minnesota and in the conference finals in 1991, and would have had a good chance at taking out Chicago in 1992, and then it comes down to Mario's Penguins vs Wayne's Oilers in those years. 93 is a tough call, as the Oilers were falling apart and no longer a playoff team, but if they still had Gretzky, they likely wouldn't be in that much of a free fall, but its unlikely that you could say the Oilers had enough depth left to reamain a contender. Although LA and Montreal both weren't world beaters in the finals, so if other teams managed to get there instead, who knows what might have happened.
My hot take of the day - if Gretzky never left the Oilers, the Leafs win the cup in 1993.
Ok, not really, I still Montreal would have beaten them, ha ha.
