Since coming into the league McDavid has increased his ppg and point totals every season. He's coming off a 108 point season where his team finished 31st in PP% at 14.8%. I think its reasonable to think that his PP numbers could increase given that the two seasons prior his team finished 5th and 18th in PP% with 22.9% and 18.1%, respectively. He is also likely to see an uptick in PP opportunities after a ridiculous low of 210 PP opportunities this season compared to 245 in 2016/17 and 237 in 2015/16.

Another factor to consider is his emerging chemistry with RNH as his winger. In 13 games last season with RNH as his winger, McDavid put up a stat line of 10-17-27, and followed that up with 5-12-17 in 10 games at the WC's with RNH as his winger.

So with that said, will McDavid hit 120 points this year (assuming 82 games played) and become the first player to do it since Crosby did it 12 years ago? I think so, and I think he would have done it last season as well if not for an abysmal power play. What do you think?

Edit: Consider the >120 option as 120 or greater.

He had freakin' 84 ESP. if the Oilers get more PP's and it isn't absolute garbage this year he definitely can put up 120+ points. Every other player in the top 10 had between 30-40 PP points.

If the Oilers get a top 10 PP, he'll easily get 115 points. Voted 110-119. 40 G 74 A 114 P.

I think that's a fair guess, but I wonder if his goalscoring stagnating is likely or not. Similar to junior he has increased his goalscoring every season with his 3rd year having the biggest jump in both leagues. A part of me thinks we haven't seen the peak of McDavid's goalscoring. I think last season he realized he is capable of scoring in many different ways including batting the puck out of the air/deflections, and shooting the puck from further out. Imo the two things that he still hasn't fully tapped into is finishing more on breakaways and shooting more on the PP. If he can discover those two areas like he did with other areas of his game this year we could be looking at a 50 goal scorer.

I only bring that up because I think if RNH sticks on his line he provides a more finesse passing game than Draisaitl to find McDavid in those soft shooting areas, and because McDavid is basically a lock for 65+ assists every year imo so if he can become a 50 goal guy then he's essentially a lock for 115+ points.

He takes it up another level and sweeps the awards again and the oilers find a way to make the playoffs (except rocket)

There is NO ONE on his level. He’s just too f***ing good.

Our power-play was absolutely horrific, and Connor had a well documented illness into late November. If nothing goes wrong this year he is over 120.

Hmm scoring was up but he had a good '16 and got 100
+8 this season to 108
If he peaks next season at 22 maybe +8 again to 116

But lots of factors. Scoring was up and 3 100 pt scorers so 108 while great didn't seem as hard.

I see the Oil PP doing much better this upcoming season, and with McDavid consistently getting better I see him setting a career-high in points!

Went with 110-119, but I think he'll end up at 115 points with 40 goals!

I think McDavid was one of 4 players on a non playoff team to be over a PPG. 2 of those players were on the one of the best offensive teams in the league. I'm on mobile so this was tricky to verify
