Just don't put the Isles patch on his jersey. Put an NHL logo there. He hasn't played for the team yet, and it doesn't count as an Isles debut.

The thing that's fun about the NHL all star game is that it's frivolous, is not supposed to mean anything, and it's not serious business. It's fun because the players have fun. Analyzing it, as opposed to saying, "Hey look at that, isn't that funny!," is blech. Also, the league + the Islanders want to sell jerseys. And the thing that would really help jersey sales, and not at all distract from the festivities, is the announcement of a contract extension between Horvat + the Islanders during the week!

In 1990, Bernie Nicholls had just come off the ice at the Skills Competition for the Western Conference when Mike Vernon, the West goalie, walked up to him and said he heard he’d been traded. Nicholls had no idea what he was talking about. Turned out he had been traded that day and it was made official during the Skills Competition.

Turned out he had been traded to the Rangers, which threw off the roster balance for the ASG the next day. So they left Nicholls on the Western roster.

This never happened. In 2021, there were no Western or Eastern Conferences. There were four divisions (North, East, South, West) and the victors of each of those played in the Stanley Cup semifinals that year. VGK vs MTL was not a conference final.
