RFA at season's end. 26 years old. Has 30, 21, and 27 goal seasons on his resume. What is he worth?

I'm very curious as to how Poile handles this. Will he go for a bridge type contract (1-2yrs), or try and lock him up as part of the long-term core with a 5-6yr type deal?

It's a completely different situation if he's an UFA, but I predict he'll settle in around the 4-4.25 mark with shorter term.

a lot depends on this season. If he scores 20+ I think poile pays him... he did the same for Erat an Legwand.

im thinking 4.5 x 5 or 6..

If he scores 20+ in 48 games that will be pretty freaking impressive. I'm thinking he'll be in the high teens and probably lead the team in goal scoring again.

I hope he re-signs long term like Klein, Erat and Legwand all have. He's usually leading us in the goal department and he always does his job. Simply pay the man.

This is what i'm hoping for too.

20 in 48 is about 35 in 82, which would be huge for the Predators.

15 goals in 48 is a little less than one every 3 games, or a 27 goal season over 82. That's typically a total that would lead or challenge for the lead on the Predators. So I'd expect guys like Legwand, Kostitsyn and Fisher to put in 10, while Hornqvist and Erat should be at 15. Smith and Wilson are still wildcards IMO, if they go over 10 this season then we could be pretty good, below 10 and this shortened season will feel like a very long one...

Ok brainfart on the expected goal total. 12 or more should get Horns his money...

He deserves to get paid for always in the running for highest scoring on the team plus being a human punching back in front of the net with no complaining.

Not sure I agree with most posts. If he does score around 20 goals, I might look to package him and another decent player for a true top 6. I like him but I don't see Horny as a legit top 6. We need a true Sniper/Top 6! We have several Horny, Fisher, Legwand type players. JMHO.

Preds offer him 4 mil and another goofball GM offers 5mil ( Holland comes to mind) and he signs elsewhere.
