Wouldn’t it continue to die off? It’s going back on the same environment

Depends? Maybe?

One TV episode (Nature?) indicated that coral that is able to adjust to the temperature fluctuation/rise is better able to survive.

Could be they're replanting with more temperature tolerant coral.
