While in Detroit these are Ken Holland's (cap era) Trade Deadline deals:

  1. Mar 9 2006 Detroit acquires Cory Cross for a 2007 4th round pick
  2. Feb 27 2007 Detroit acquires Todd Bertuzzi (pending UFA) for Shawn Matthias 2007 conditional pick (#58) and a 2008 2nd conditional (if Bertuzzi re-signs, which he didn't)
  3. Feb 26 2007 Detroit acquires Kyle Calder (pending UFA) for Jason Williams, Calder left in free agency
  4. Feb 26 2008 Detroit acquires Brad Stuart for a 2008 2nd and a 2009 4th (Detroit wins the cup in 2008)
  5. Nothing in 2009
  6. Feb 6 2010 Detroit acquires Ole-Kristian Tollefsen for Ville Leino
  7. Mar 3 2010 Detroit acquires Jordan Owens for Kris Newbury
  8. Mar 3 2010 Detroit acquires Andy Delmore for Riley Armstrong
  9. Nothing in 2011
  10. Feb 21 2012 Detroit acquires Kyle Qunicey for Sebastien Piche and a 2012 1st round pick (filling the hole Brain Rafalski's retirement created on the blueline)
  11. Nothing in 2013 (Nik Lidstrom retires)
  12. Mar 5 2014 Detroit acquires David Legwand (pending UFA) for Calle Jarnkrok, Patrick Eaves and a 3rd round pick (Mike Illitch is dying and wants the team to still compete)
  13. Mar 2 2015 Detroit acquires Marek Zidlicky for 2016 3rd round pick
  14. Mar 1 2015 Detroit acquires Erik Cole for Mattias Backman, Mattias Janmark and a 2015 2nd
  15. Feb 27 2016 Detroit acquires Jakub Kindl for a 2017 6th round pick
  16. In 2017 the rebuild begins, Holland begins trading away players for picks

In all the years Holland was GM of the Wings he rarely dealt away top prospects or 1st round picks. He mostly moved mid to late round picks for depth guys. He was more aggressive in free agency in the off season which we've seen here in Edmonton.

Thank you to The Nation Network for these trade details.

Move some bodies out.. we need the cap space to start anything.

I wonder if he's still gun shy after the AA trade a few season's back..

He wasn't exactly the most prolific trade deadline dealer, but then we kind of knew that. He got a few name players during that time, but most of them were vets winding down their careers rather than real difference makers.

Probably a good idea to not expect too much outside of some cap shuffling and maybe a bottom sixer. Hopefully whoever he does acquire doesn't flop like Brassard did though.

I remember Brad Stuart being a big addition to that cup winning team.

True, and he only cost a 2nd and a 4th. Holland signed him as well in the off season.

Still Holland looks like a pretty conservative GM at the trade deadline. He is more active in the free agent market.

All things being equal he *might* make a big trade but the odds are against it. He has never dealt a top prospect and has only moved a 1st round pick once in his tenure as General Manager.
