IMHO, offer sheets are pretty much never worth it.

If it is a "low" salary you offer, the other team matches, and now you can never trade with them and their closest friends.

If it is a "high" salary... same thing only you piss off everyone.

And just by chance this works, and you get the player, you pay out something like 3 first rounders, etc etc.

It is just not a good move period.

Offer sheets just aren't worth it, for the reasons discussed above. They almost never work. See the Weber fiasco with Philly this summer to see why.

In the NBA they do to it all the time. Rival GM's even put a 'poison pill' to front or back-load a contract making it difficult to match for the previous team.I wish it was done more in the NHL. F the 'bro code' , they aren't helping you win a cup...
I think they need to remove the compensation to the former team with picks.I think GM's are more afraid of giving up 5 first rounders I believe than breaking the 'bro code'
