Can’t move on a defenseman without also moving one out. There’s currently 7 on the roster and 3 of them make 4.88 and over.

would likely be Matheson/Yandle(some think but I don’t think there’s a chance he moves), and either a top prospect like Tippett or Borgstrom, or we could include Hoffman for the cap room and bring one of those 2 up.

however Matheson has low value atm and Hoff is on his last year.

If you want a #1D back then the pick or prospect better be more valuable than Hoffman. Hoffman's a talented player, but we know what he is at this point. He's not the main piece in a trade that nets you a stud D.
