I'd heard of this trophy of course from the old EHL but didn't think it still existed.Apperantly it was first awarded in 1926.
Awesome find.
my grandfather played for several teams in the EHL in the 50s, so anytime I see an article about the league it draws a little more interest than usual.

Is that right? Mustve been one tough customer and not necessarily as a fighter but tough as in rugged, strong willed. It was said if you could play in the EHL back then, through the 60's, you could pretty much play anywhere. In the 50's, 14 man Roster's. 3 Lines, 2 Defensive pairings, 1 Goalie. Injuries & ejections fairly common so often, very short bench.... I'd imagine he's a tale or two to tell of his life in that league. ;)

The Citizens Trophy was 1st presented in 1899-1900 by the Windsor Hockey League.
The Windsor Avonians were the 1st winners, and also won the trophy in 1901 and 1902. The Avonians were allowed to keep the trophy, as they won it 3 consecutive years.

The team was allowed to keep the cup, so a new cup was donated.
The Windsor Citizen’s Hockey Trophy was first handed out in 1903 to the Resolute Hockey Team.

North Bay
I’ve been reading the local sports history of my adopted home town of North Bay lately. It was written by local historian and former broadcaster for the old Centennials. It has a couple pictures of old hockey trophies. These are photos taken of the book so apologies for how they look but these are a few old trophies...

The first is from 1938 it’s the NOSSA championship trophy for the high school champions of Northern Ontario.

The second is the Duff Cup and it’s from 1932, local trophy I am not sure the age group here.

The last one is of the St Mary’s high school team from 1907-08. Not sure the name of the trophy but it’s a beaut
