Hockey East has released its schedule for the 2020-21 season for both the men’s and women’s conferences, with games beginning Nov. 20.

Included in the announcement was conference’s television package, which will begin with six games on NESN on opening weekend. Other games streamed through ViacomCBS Digital will be made free to fans all year.

“We’re excited to make this announcement today, and very appreciative of all the hard work by so many in making it happen,” commissioner Steve Metcalf said in a statement. “We’ve worked closely with all our member institutions in establishing protocols in an effort to play as safely as possible, while also giving our teams a complete and meaningful season.”

Looking at the schedule the Beanpot has been canceled

By definition of how this season was going to go with no play outside of Hockey East, the Beanpot would have to be cancelled anyway, because of Harvard (ECAC), right? Still, a big loss.

But, assuming it's smart to have the season at all, it's a smart way to set up the season - having flex games scheduled that can be replaced with "real" games when the inevitable COVID cancellations happen.

I'm sure NESN is happy - finally gives them some live content.

On the one hand, no 2021 Beanpot sucks, no doubt.
But it also means that Northeastern will still be the defending champions, so that's not all bad.
