A really depressing thought: What if the higher floor doesn't matter?

Cap Payroll $51,316,810 $41,811,976
Current Bonuses $6,092,500 $3,685,833
Above is a cut and paste from CapGeek.com of our current roster, showing that we currently have 16 players under contract for $41,811,976 for 2014-15.
The cap floor will be about $51,000,000 next season. DeHaan and Donovan are givens to be re-signed and that makes 7 defensemen when they do. Budget $2,000,000 total for them. Add Reinhart on his ELC for $1,000,000.
Add Cizikas, Lee and probably Boulton for a total of say $3,000,000 or less and we are up to 21 total players.
That leaves goaltending.
Add $5,000,000 to the current numbers and that leaves a little over $5,000,000 to reach the cap floor.
As depressing as this sounds, if Wang only wants to hit the floor again it will be pretty easy to do so. Re-sign Poulin or Nilsson and Nabakov for a total of $4,000,000 and we are there.
Since most of us can agree that we are not going to convince a big free agent to sign with us this offseason after this season’s debacle we might be looking at this team again!
Younger, cheaper and . . . well, you get the picture!
And think this simple thought - if retaining $1,000,000 of Vanek's salary to make a much better deal was not tenable why would our owner possibly open the checkbook next year?
Unbelievable to me is that I root for arguably the TWO cheapest owners in all of major league sports - The Isles and the Marlins.
Commit me now, before the dementia kicks in . . .
