It feels like year by year we are getting players maintaining higher shooting percentages over the season. Do you think this will be a continuing trend going forward with the higher octane offense we've seen?

EDIT:

END OF 2023-24: Here is the end of season list of highest shooting percentages with a minimum of 30 points. Interesting to see a lot of changes in names on the list.

MID SEASON 2023-24: These are the top 30 S% skaters with at least 20 points this season (to weed out the bottom 6 players with hot hands)

From what you can see it looks like in the 20-30 range you have what you'd normally see in players that are shooting well. What is unusual is maintaining the percentages that the top 1-10 are doing at the moment. Currently there are 11 players with a S% over 20. It used to be that you'd only see a few players be able to do that on career years per season. Who is it going to be this season?

For the record here was the top 30 shooting players last year (minimum 40 pts to factor in the full season)

And for good measure 2021-22

These seasons had 7 and 10 shooters maintaining a S% over 20. To compare I looked back 10 years ago.

Here we have 2 players shooting over 20% and these players did not end up playing the full season so it could have dropped further. You can see the general trend has increased over time. What do you think this is attributed to. Higher skill levels? Offense oriented systems? Weakened goalie positions?

How does Vancouver have 5 guys shooting over 20% this year? Feels like you never see that many from one team.

It would probably have to do with the system, the Canucks don't take a lot of shots but the ones they do take usually have multiple screens.

Every time a player shoots above average fans say this exact same thing. They all come back down. System doesn't matter, being selective with shots doesn't matter, they all come back down.

Yeah, I agree with you, but we're talking about 5+ players from a single team, not just one guy.
