The Edmonton Oilers are proud to select from the Erie Otters Connor McDavid.

connor-mcdavid-size-xxlarge-letterbox.jpg

Two words; unprecedented speed. Skating speed, hand quickness and mental processing that he executes simultaneously to threaten defenders and create opportunities. He would be the first pick at every draft since Sidney Crosby in 2005, perhaps even in Crosby’s draft year.

The Buffalo Sabres are proud to select, From Boston University,

Jack Eichel
jack_eichel_sabres.jpg

When Jack Eichel is on the ice, the pace of the play shifts; if players can't keep up, they are left behind. A consistent scoring threat on the ice, Eichel possesses next-level hockey-IQ, an elite-level skillset, and the natural size and work ethic to let him play his role as a scoring power center. All-in-all, Jack Eichel is that uncontainable, dynamic center that can make other players look out of place in his wake.

NHL Projection: Franchise #1 Center. Generational Talent

The Arizona Coyotes are proud to select, from the London Knights

Mitch Marner

Exceptional creativity with poise and passing skills that allow him to create offence quickly. He’s elusive and very hard to keep in check because he is constantly in motion. He plays the game in the moment and is quickly responding to opportunity. The best winger in the draft.

NHL Projection: Elite Scoring Winger

Comparibles: Patrick Kane, Claude Giroux

The Toronto Maple Leafs select from Boston College Noah Hanifin

A dynamic two-way defenseman that has no holes in his game. An exceptionally strong skater who isn't afraid to take the puck himself and move it up-ice. The confidence that he has in his abilities lets him thrive under heightened competitive levels. The skilled defenseman's undeniably high level of hockey sense is showcased whenever he touches the puck in the offensive zone. Defensively, he is aggressive, constantly pushing for puck possession and a quick transition to offense, but at the same time steadfast, reliable, and patient. He is poised beyond his years and mature in his decision making. All-in-all, Noah Hanifin is the ideal all-around defenseman that leaves no area of his game untended. (Curtis Joe, EP 2015)

Noah Hanifin is a star in the making. A true two-way player that coaches want to leave on the ice as long as they have juice left. His game is reminiscent to that of the NHL player Drew Doughty: a truly versatile defenseman and a catalyst for positive happenings at both ends of the ice.

Ron Francis: The Carolina Hurricanes would like to congratulate the Chicago Blackhawks on another Stanley Cup victory, as well as thank the Florida Panthers, their fans and their staff here in Sunrise, Florida for putting on this event. With that said, our first selection in the 2015 NHL Entry Draft, the Carolina Hurricanes are proud to select... from the Erie Otters of the OHL, Dylan Strome!

Dylan-Strome-640x425.jpg

Future Considerations said:
Elite offensive forward…a big forward who moves well, and demonstrated some very good power and speed…is tough to contain as he used his speed, strength and creativity to beat defenders…has great vision with the puck and sees the ice very well…uses his crafty hands to dance around defenders and get into positions where he could shoot or set-up teammates…distributes the puck well and is able to create a lot of chances…has a lethal wrist-shot with great power and a pretty good release…uses his size and reach on the boards to win the puck and get in good supporting areas to pick up loose pucks…defensive effort goes up and down. (August 2014)

Craig Button said:
A smart, good skating, center who can not only make plays but can finish them also. Reads the play so very well and he gets himself into positions where he can take advantage and be a threat. He’s multi-dimensional in that he can play two-ways, can play a skill game, can play a ‘heavy’ game but regardless of the situations he plays a game where he contributes in some way, some fashion.

With the 6th overall pick of the 2015 NHL Entry Draft, The New Jersey Devils are proud to select, from the Seattle Thunderbirds, Mathew Barzal!

View attachment 83409

Born: May 26th 1997 (18 years old), Vancouver, BC, Canada
Position: Centre, Shoots Right
Height: 6'0" Weight: 181 lbs

Barzal suffered a knee injury on November 13th of last year. This resulted in him having a fairly tough year. Barzal was selected by Canada to participate in the U18 World Junior Championships where he thrived, leading Canada in points (12). After the tournament, Barzal's stock has been rising, up to the end of the season. Barzal fits the need of the Devils, since the Devils are looking for a more offensive player.

Having some serious internet issues this morning gents, sorry.

With the 8th pick, with a desperate need for blueliners and the Flyers having poached Provorov with the previous pick, the Columbus Bluejackets take Zach Werenski from Michigan.

More detailed writeup to follow, pending solution to internet shenanigans.

Good MORNING city of Estonia. With the 9th overall pick the San Jose Sharks are proud to select da steal of the top 10:

PAVEL ZACHA

This guy can score, he can dangle, hit, drive the net with authority, defensively responsible and can be counted on in all situations. He's a hound on the puck. He's already got NHL size and NHL shot and NHL grit. We feel he can step in right away or we can keep in another year in Sarnia and let him get turnt and dominate all the other boys for fullseason then we bring him over and let him dangle with his countrymen Hertl, lol gl NHL.

about to head to bead so i'll make this all pretty in the morning but the Colorado Avalanche are pleased to select C/RW Mikko Rantanen

Not only was Rantanen playing in the top Finnish league this year but he scored at a 0.5ppg pace while wearing an “Aâ€. Upon TPS' elimination from the playoffs he was sent to their U-20 team where he posted a playoff high 14 points in just 7 games along with setting a record for number of hits in a U-20 playoff run with 57. Rantanen will likely spend one more year in Finland before coming over to North America, but could come over next year and join an AHL team with no loss of a contract year.

Projection: Top line winger or second line centre (plays all 3 positions)
http://www.dirtydangle.com/2015/04/2015-mock-draft-top-14.html

A strong three-zone playmaker who is also defensively responsible…has an awkward upright skating stride, but gets from Point A to Point B just fine…not a big â€wow†factor to his game, but is a smooth, fluid, big-bodied forward who can be hard to handle…uses his strength and reach, along with his vision and hands, to protect the puck…has good instincts when to pass and when to hold…puck seems to follow him around the ice…good in his own zone and consistently makes himself available for a breakout pass…has impressive hockey sense and awareness…needs to work on his shot and add more muscle mass to his growing frame. All around great at everything but not elite at anything(Maybe elite IQ). No weaknesses.

Projection: 1st line forward that plays PK and PP. Used offensively and defensively. Relatively safe bet to make the NHL. Won't be an offensive back pack.

Similar to a ROR or Bergeron or Plekanec or Saad

The Dallas Stars are pleased to select Lawson Crouse from the Kingston Frontenacs.

lawson-crouse.jpg

Craig Button:
Lawson has unique skills and abilities and while he may not have prolific offensive capabilities, he has a game where he will create offensive opportunities in multiple ways. A smart, strong skater with power and a great desire to create room and space with purposeful play. One of the few power players in draft.

The Los Angeles Kings are honoured to select with the 13th overall pick in the 2015 NHL entry draft from the Ottawa 67's Travis Konecny!

A talented scoring forward that can play either as a center or on the wing; plays with the bite and intensity of a guy who is willing to do anything to win a game. Possesses dynamic skating ability that allows him to accelerate rapidly with each step, incredible hockey sense, electrifying puckhandling skills, and a lightning release on his shot; when you put this skillset together with hard-nosed determination, proactiveness in all three zones, and a physical willingness to grind and persevere, you get a game-changer who can be extremely difficult to play against. (Curtis Joe, EP 2014)

NHL Central Scouting’s Chris Edwards:
"He's a highly skilled forward who never quits. He skates very well, has excellent speed, is not afraid to get involved in battles and has no fear of taking the puck to the net.

NHL Projection: #1 Center Backup/ Elite #2 Center

Boston selects RW Timo Meier

B97404031Z.120141214065233000G827PV8O.11.jpg

A physically dominant winger with the ability to play in a skill or character role. In the offensive end, Meier is very aware and gets himself into spaces where he can easily make seeing eye passes or snap hard, accurate shots. Can impact the game in a number of different ways, and is very consistent in his efforts. All-in-all, the kind of versatile player that you can put on a skill line, and trust to create dangerous chances, or on a shutdown line, and trust to help stop pucks from going into your net. (Curtis Joe, EP 2014)

With the 17th overall selection in the 2015 NHL Entry Draft, the Winnipeg Jets are very proud to select from the Kelowna Rockets of the WHL, Nick Merkley.

"Nick is a slick playmaking centre that has the ability to make everyone around him better. Has the versatility to line up down the middle or on the right side. His draft position is a testament to the depth of this draft and not of his abilities."

The :sens are proud to select, from the Charlottetown Islanders, Daniel Sprong.

Daniel-Sprong-3.jpg

Scouting Report:

“A strong offensive player…he’s quick and extremely involved in every play…an explosive player who can create chances out of nothing…strong skater and very slick hands…a wicked shot and can snipe top shelf…not easily pushed around, but still does need to add strength to truly dominate…he’s adaptable and able to find ways to make an impact in every game…defense needs to come along and he isn’t very physical, but his offensive skill set will make him a game breaker at the pro level…at times, he shows some real initiative in his own zone though, blocking shots and breaking up plays…works his butt off both on and off the ice to improve his game."

Interview with GM Bryan Murray:

Q: You went a little off the board, didn't you Bryan?
A: You could say that we did - in terms of the pre-draft speculation - but in terms of talent, we believe we got a very good player with tremendous upside and offensive potential.

Q: What did you see in Daniel that other teams and scouts didn't?
A: Well he's got tremendous skill and skating - you need that in today's NHL. We truly believe he will be a legit top line forward for us down the road. In years passed, we took character guys, two-way forwards - guys you need on a team - and some of those were available this year too. However, we felt we needed some offensive punch, and we couldn't pass up on Daniel, much like Erik Karlsson a few years ago.

The Buffalo Sabres are proud to select, From Sherbrooke, of the QMJHL

Jeremy Roy
images

Jeremy Roy is a gifted two-way defenceman that establishes his presence on the ice through playing authoritative hockey, with and without the puck. His absolute and total awareness of other players' positions on the ice is a testament to his incredible knowledge of the game. Roy possesses the intangibles of maturity and character that can't be taught, as well as the individual skill that turns heads every time he is on the ice. All-in-all, a highly intelligent defenceman that plays high-percentage hockey and is a catalyst for positive plays in all three zones.

The Vancouver Canucks are proud to select Thomas Chabot. Write up will come shortly. I kinda wanted to take Bracco but i dont think the canucks will do that

A natural athele Thomas Chabot grew up in Sweden boxing and playing Tennis as a youth before switching full time to hockey at age 11. Despite starting so late he quickly excelled through the Swedish amateur ranks before being drafted by St.Johns in the CHL import draft. Chabot possess strong puck skills and pin point passing abilty that when coupled with fast developing hockey sense and strong atheltic traits make him a great prospective two way defender. Showing a willingness to adapt and learn Chabot has quickly risen through the draft ranks and will make a solid choice for any team willing to be patient with the up and coming younger defender.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PHR-iAKOW-s

you can barely telling he has a swedish accent. he was actually born in Ste-Marie-de-Beauce but moved to Stockholm

improving and progressing defensive game is a very positive sign as hes putting it together with his evlusivness and puckskills

The Toronto Maple Leafs are proud to select, from the USNTDP, centre Colin White.

6dzwv9.jpg

A good two-way forward with good work ethic who plays a smart game in all three zones. Possesses a powerful, accurate shot and shows good defensive mind. Is a good skater with decent speed and strong on his knees. Isn't afraid to play with a physical edge and is hard to knock off the puck. Is good around the net and often utilizes rebounds. He has no high end skills and leaves too many chances unutulized. Isn't the biggest guy on the ice but this is not going to stop him to work hard, play physical and go in front of the net. Has the full package and can be a very competitive two-way forward.
“Colin White played a top line role for the US NTDP U17 team at centre and was leading the squad in points before a late season call-up to the Under 18 team where he played in a checking line wing spot. He was incredible at last year’s U17 World Hockey Challenge with 10 goals and 18 points in just six games. He is back with the U18 team this year and is once again the top line centre and captain. White has put up 11 goals and 18 assists for 29 points in 27 games so far. White plays a great puck protection and cycle game, always keeping his feet moving and working down low. He wins the vast majority of his puck battles showing outstanding balance and strength. He has decent speed and generates the power to fight through checks and go to the net. He also has good agility. White is equally adept as a passer or as a shooter, and displays the good hands to stickhandle around defencemen or to finish in close to the crease. He also has shown the ability to play in his own end as well being outstanding in the face-off circle.“
