Summer Boredom/2012 NHL Entry Draft Excitement presents:

:HFB: 2012 Draft Order Prediction Cup:wave:

The rules of the game are simple:
a) make your prediction of where teams will fit in the 2012 draft order. Prepare your list showing the order before results from the 2012 draft lottery and WITHOUT trades factored in. For example, we know Washington has Colorado's 1st rounder so to avoid confusion later on, but just list Colorado where you think they would draft if they had their 1st pick.
b) Indicate your four additional predictions for bonus points (see below for details)
c) edits can be made on your original prediction post through October 5, 2011 - the day before the NHL 2011-12 regular season begins. All edits made after this date will disqualify you.
d) If you need help in determining the draft order rules, follow this link: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/NHL_Entry_Draft#Selection_order_and_Draft_lottery
e) don't simply cut and paste my entry without changing anything (there can be only one winner) :snide:

(hint: 7 teams from each conference miss the playoffs and will draft first)
(disclaimer: there are several prediction threads around, but all focus on conference standings rather than final draft order)
(extra disclaimer: - If nobody else wants to play , I reserve the right to proclaim myself the winner with all the rights and privilages thereof. :naughty:

Scoring
Once the draft lottery and the Stanley Cup Finals are over, you can add up your score according to the following:
- You add one (1) point for every position in the order that you predict incorrectly (both high and low)
Bonus Predictions!:
1. You subtract five (5) points if you correctly predict the draft lottery winner
2. You subtract five (5) points if you correctly predict the Stanley Cup winner
3. You subtract five (5) points if you correctly identify the team I am most offbase with on my draft order prediction (under or over estimating)
4. tie breaker (if necessary) - who do you predict will be the 4th overall pick at the 2012 NHL Entry Draft?

Lowest score wins the :HFB: 2012 Draft Order Prediction Cup :win:.

Prizes
1st - You will receive a custom avatar proclaiming to everyone on the world's most popular hockey forum that you are the year's best fantasy predictor and that you can back up your bragging for a whole year
2nd - nobody will remember you, but you increase your post count on HF by one (1).:wedgie:

How can you possibly predict the full draft order without knowing how playoffs turnout? Same can be said for the bonus question for 4th overall. The draft lists are going to change quite a bit..

I think top 5 would make this much better..

So you're asking us what the playoff matchups are and how they will turn out each playoff round?

Not really. If you want to win the prediction cup, you could think more in depth like that, but don't take this too seriously JM! Pick your 4 playoff finalists and fill in the rest with top divisional teams and it'll probably be probable-ish. Just a little fun on a hot summer day, huh?

Edit: I could probably tweak my 21-26 to make it more probable for division leaders to be slotted in there, but I won't - if four of them make the semi-finals, it's still reasonable.

Boy the eastern conference will be screwed in a couple of years if the panthers pick in the top 5 yet again this coming year.

This time it will be a high scoring winger to complete our future top line.

So go ahead people, make my day, please put the panthers in the top of the draft yet again next year!
