My dark horse from the list is probably danill Zharkov I think he can be a solid bottom six guy. He's massive at 6'4 and 230. Came from the Belleville system very defensive when he was there so he knows how to play in his own end. The question is does he have any extra offense. Hopefully comes over from KHL after this year and maybe Slepshev as well.

Ya I really like Gernat's pedigree. If I had to vote for 1 to seriously move up the rankings, it'd be him.

My predications for the upcoming year:

Roy will rocket up the standings, likely to best forward
Gernat will also rise, him and Simpson will solidify themselves as the next crop of good D prospects, Musil will fall slightly
One of Khaira/ Yakimov will fall hard. My guess is Khaira, but who knows. The other will have a good AHL year.
Chase and Slepyshev will switch spots
Lagesson will enter Musils level
Pitlick will fall. Hell be a decent grinder but the hype will fall off

Pretty decent job of ranking by the collective hivemind here imo.

I'm sure there are some too high and others too low once we see how they all develop and turn out but I think as a snapshot ranking it's pretty good.

Personally I'd have McCarron and LaLeggia in the top 20... but as to who I'd move out in their place... a bit more difficult... but probably Ewanyk and Davidson I'd move down to make room for them.

I liked the Zharkov pick at the time but have to agree with these rankings... it's hard to put him in the top 20 now as he's secluded away in the KHL and not exactly tearing things up over there.

Jordan Oesterle could be a dark horse as well... haven't seen enough of him to know but he could be deserving of a top 20 spot the next time this list rolls around.

Goalies are hard to predict but Tuohimma might deserve some consideration for a top 20 spot once we see how he performs in OKC (I assume he'll be there this season).

You rank Moroz much higher than I do.

Which reminds me...a friend of mine saw him on the big screen at Commonwealth on the weekend and said he's the next Ryan Smyth. I don't think so and tried to work up a $100 bet that Moroz wouldn't play 100 games with the Oilers. My friend wouldn't pull the trigger on the wager. Coward! I think Chase might enjoy a better career than Moroz does, although I hope both eventually play for the Oilers.

To do a proper list you need to go by name and name only. Gretzky wouldn't have been the greatest of all time without a cool name.

So:
1. Zach Nagelvoort(imagine the pbp guy screaming "Nagelvooooort makes the save")
2. Leon Draisaitl(so a bit germanic to start the list off, though Draisaitl is a czech name originally)
3. Bogdan Yakimov(sounds like he'd be a russian boxer in the 70s)
4. Darnell Nurse(always thought Darnell sounds like the name of a cool intellectual, and Nurse as a name is funny, so you got cool, funny and smart)
5. Kale Kessy(sounds like the kind of names they gave superheros secret identity, totally made up)
6. Joey Laleggia(the Don)
7. Travis Ewanyk(don't know why I like it, but to me it sounds like the bass player of an indie rockband)
8. Jujhar Khaira(nothing special really but it stands out as a name for a hockey player and that's a good thing)
9. Tyler Vessel(formula 1 driver)
10. Daniil Zharkov(shark with a z to start off the last name seals it for me)
11. Greg Chase(early 90s cop series)
12. Tyler Pitlick(porn name)
13. Jackson Houck(porn name)
14. Mitch Moroz(steals cars, fights in bars but has a heart of gold in an 80s movie)
15. Laurent Brossoit(comes from Paris to have sex with your family)
16. Martin Marincin(another comic book secret identity, mysterious eastern european character)
17. Ben Betker(...and another one, this guy is a smaller character who's friends with the main hero as civilians but enemies in costume)
18. Kellen Jones(trigger happy cop in the same series as Greg Chase)
19. Kyle Platzer(starting to run out of ideas, sounds like a cool nerd)
20. Oskar Klefbom(have to get one swede in there, Oskar means something like "gods arrow" in ancient nordic language and his name ends with BOM so it's solid)

William Lagesson is a total bust based on name, William for swedish kids means you're a brat and Lage in Lagesson(the son of Lage) is the name of a accountant in a beige suit.

So there you have it, our Oiler prospects, Nagelvoort is a hall of famer.

I dont know what your taking about, William Lagesson sounds like an elite archer from the middle agers. If I want one guy protecting my castle, its a guy with the last name Lagesson

Maybe Davidson is better than I give him credit for... he just seems to be a ways down the totem pole in terms of dmen prospects with really nothing that makes him stand out in my mind... not really high end defensively or offensively.

Saying that though, he could be one of those players that does almost everything fairly well without too many weaknesses and could become a decent overall all around dman. Time will tell.

Gotta cheer for him after what he's been through healthwise.

I was cheering for Fedun as well and was somewhat surprised the Oilers dumped him as he looked good by my eye from what I saw of him.

Rocky Thompson was really high on him saying he'd be the next D to crack the NHL in OKC. I remember him being a beast last season towards the end but didn't hear to much about him this season. He lost some development time with cancer but seems good to go

He reminds me of Brendan Dillon a bit in terms of style being a shut down D who can move the puck and skate well. Both had similar junior and AHL careers, hopefully Davidson follows Dillons success in the nhl
