neither of which has ever had a 20 goal season. Pouliots highest in 9 nhl seasons is 16. Nuge could do it but I doubt Pouliot will from the 2nd or 3rd line. Extremely unlikely. If we are to have 5 20 goal scorers I think they would have to be Hall, Ebs, Perron, Yak, Nuge

There were only 101 20 goals scorers in the NHL last season. Having 5 of them pretty much means things are going well for the team and they are playoff bound.

Last season only 7 teams had 5+ 20 goal scorers:


Philadelphia had 7... 94 pts... made the playoffs.

Boston had 5... 117 pts... made the playoffs.

Chicago had 5... 107 pts... made the playoffs.

Colorado had 5...112 pts... made the playoffs.

Ottawa had 5... 88 pts.. missed the playoffs. (4th most goals against given up
in the NHL)

Pittsburgh had 5... 109 pts... made the playoffs.

St. Louis had 5... 111 pts... made the playoffs.


Those teams averaged 105 pts and 6/7 made the playoffs.


So really that q can be restated more or less... will the Oilers make the playoffs or not.

If the team has 5 20 goal scorers... unless they **** the bed badly again defensively and in net... ie giving up the most # of goals in the NHL again... they should be a playoff team.

I naturally thought under being a PP rank of 14 or worse, and over being a PP rank of 13 or better.
