Jon Gillies - i feel this is a big year for the now 3rd year pro. Does he finally show the potential so many saw in him? Goalies are so hard to read, some emerge late other early as legit goalies. Gillies has played well in the AHL and had some fantastic highlight reel saves/games at the NHL level, but hes also had some real stinkers too.
Kaspari Kapanen - Likely makes the leafs full time this season. Question is upside top 6 will be hard to crack. Likely a top 9 forward with solid PK skills and speed to burn i feel his upside might be similar to current RedWing Paul Byron.
Austin Czirnak- Signed as a low risk high reward signing to improve Calgarys scoring depth Austin has done a hell of a job showing he could be an NHL regular still likely nothing more than a bottom 6 guy with some skill but we will take it.
Rasmus Anderson- Making is very hard with Vilimaki for calgary to make a choice. Its probably best for both of them to go play in the AHL given the Flames are just too deep right now at defense and better to keep playing top line. But after and AHL all star year last year and another strong camp he will be a man to watch as the year unfolds.
Nicholas Baptiste - A bottom 6 gritty guy Baptiste is in good spot to make the opening line up on a much better Sabers squad.
Luke Kunin - Has yet to suit up as be finishes healing. May be best he starts the year in the AHL after not being able to fully train all summer due to an injury last year. Get his legs under him and see how he performs and likely a call up if players underperform/injury bug.
Ty Lewis - As far as i can tell he is still at camp but hes got an uphill battle better to go to the AHL for seasoning learn the pro game that way. Would be shocked if he played in the NHL this year
