The final outcome for the Canucks' prospects:
Making the Cut
Damien Brunner - Impressive in camp and starting on a line with Datsyuk and Zetterberg. The Wings were blown out in their home opener.
Kyle Palmieri - Also strong in camp, starting on a line with Perry and Getzlaf, playing on his off-wing. Popped a goal in the season opener.
Cory Conacher - Another winger with great linemates, Conacher is starting on a line with Lecavalier and Purcell, and put up a goal and an assist in the opener.
Dougie Hamilton - Starting on the third pairing, with occasional stints with Dennis Seidenberg. Expected to stay up all season.
Brenden Dillon - Was seen as a lock to make it, and didn't disappoint. Starting on a second pairing with Larsen, throwing five hits in the opener.
David Warsofsky - A surprise for the opening roster in Boston, Warsofsky is currently the 7th d-man, and will likely be demoted when Aaron Johnson is healthy.
Christopher Nihlstorp - Seems to have beat out Richard Bachman as back-up to Kari Lehtonen, but speculation is Bachman may be back once he gets into game shape, after sitting out for the lockout.
Missing the Cut
Beau Bennett - Was strong in camp, but lost out to Eric Tangradi, possibly due to waiver eligibility. Will see time later this year for sure.
Jayson Megna - A surprise invite had a great camp but was highly unlikely to actually make the team.
Mike Hoffman - Had a strong camp but as expected was the odd man out. LIkely the first call-up for Ottawa.

make that 0-4.. If things don't turn around with the return of Crosby to the lineup, I might be open to make some bigger moves..
Made NHL opening night line-up
Roman Josi – Playing 25+ minutes per night on the top pairing with Shea Weber.
Ian Cole – Cracked the line-up, although the signing of Wade Redden could create another challenge. Playing a physical depth roll right now and seems ready for full-time NHL duty.
Jan Mursak – Cracked the opening night roster, but a depth forward with the Wings.
Reilly Smith – After leading the AHL Stars in scoring as a rookie, made the opening night roster as a depth player. For now.

Viktor Fasth - Made the team as a backup and has played 2 games for Anaheim, going 2-0 with a .938 save percentage and a 1.44 goals against. If Jonas Hiller continues to have his struggles, we may see Fasth get more starts.
Zac Dalpe - Made the NHL team but with only 2 points on the season was demoted back to Charlotte to play yet again in the AHL. He seems on the cusp of developing that dreaded "career AHLer", label.
Jonathan Audy-Marchessault - Leading AHL scorer among players that belong in the AHL, JAM has been fantastic in Springfield and recently was recalled for limited minutes with Columbus. While he may not have a great NHL future, the sky remains the limit for his AHL production which is up quite a bit even from last season.
Michael Sgarbossa - Another AHL rookie who is doing work for Lake Erie. Recently got a call up for his first cup of NHL coffee after being undrafted.
Ryan Lasch - the hotly contested 25 year old after making Team USA for the WC has proven to be not worth all the attention and has headed back to Sweden after being demoted to the ECHL by the Ducks. Making the Capitals look quite the fool for the massive contract they gave him. However, it looks as if they'll only be responsible for it for one season.
Travis Oleksuk - Another hotly contested UDFA, Oleksuk has done just that in the AHL this season for the Sharks. With a meager 6 points and 2 goals in 29 games, it's not looking good for future success with him either. The Capitals 3 "big wins", with Lasch, Oleksuk, and Fasth may yield nothing usable for the franchise.

Quick update for the Canucks:
Cory Conacher - Seems to be for real. Eight in the NHL in points, leads all rookies. Still playing top six role in Tampa Bay and getting occasional PK time as well.
Damien Brunner - Also seems to be legit. Has points in five straight, with 4 goals in 8 games, mostly playing with Zetterberg. Not Calder eligible but looks like a top six forward.
Kyle Palmieri - Another player with 4 goals in 8 games, but has played all over the line-up, most recently with Selanne and Ryan. Unfortunately still playing out of position at LW, but still showing NHL-calibre finishing ability.
Dougie Hamilton - Has drawn headlines for surprisingly outstanding play in Boston so far, both offensively and defensively. Appears he really was bored in junior. Should be a cornerstone of the Canucks' blueline with Letang and Faulk for a while.
Brenden Dillon - Drew a few headlines when he had a Gordie Howe Hat Trick over the weekend, but mostly is just going about his business effectively. Looks like a solid third-pairing blueliner at worst, but right now in top 4.

Sven Baertschi- Only true prospect to crack the NHL for the Stars this year has been horribly misused by the NHL Flames spending time on 4th line. Now out with an injury and Cervenka and Hudler back in the line up i hope hes sent down and gets proper playing time or else he could bust like every Isle prospect not name John Taveres.

Alex Plante- Looks like the Bust tag is on for Plante the former first round pick has been solid AHLer but Oilers never give him more than a cup of coffee in the NHL looks like and AHLer for life
Johnathan Blum- Another Dman who looks like a bust was a make or break year for him and seems he was surpassed by every D prospect behind him probably will return to Europe after his contract expires.
Mikael Backlund- Another guy whose in a make or break year with 3 points in 6 games(11 in 41 last year,25 in 71 year before) hes looking like he may still have potential. Hopefully he can keep playing well and become a productive if at worst 3rd liner.
Matt Read- Year to prove he wasnt a fluke and he has so far. Infact some flyers fan have called him the Flyers most consistent forward. Happy with his play so far.
Alexander Burmistrov- I love the kid and hes got potential still but its looking like he may be a 3rd line shut down player with some offense upside. Kicked myself when i realized i could have had Tarasenko instead but i liked this kid in the draft alot.
Sergei Bobrovsky- Kid has been lights out some nights and awful others. He seems to have lit a fire under Masons ass and the 2 now battle for the top job which could last awhile with both playing strong on a weak team.
Pretty quiet for development from the Stars but hopefully a few guys can be contributors down the road

Too bad about Backlund. He was really flying to start the season and had been the Flames best forward outside of Stempniak when he got hurt. And Read is the best player out of the Dion trade.
For the Flames - another draft pick has completed the long road to the NHL. Alex Killorn made his debut for the Lightning in his first pro season - and has now played 3 games. Meanwhile Anton Khudobin got another win for the Bruins - more than holding his own as the backup there...

Canucks Update for March:
Cory Conacher - Still leads all NHL rookies in scoring, with 20 points in 25 games, but has been cool over the past two weeks after being moved to a lower line.
Damien Brunner - Would be second in rookie scoring if he was below the age limit. Has put up 10 goals, 19 points in 26 games, playing mostly with Zetterberg.
Kyle Palmieri - Above the Calder cut-off for games played, but has nonetheless had a good first true season in the NHL, with 7 goals, 10 points in 20 games. Recently knocked out of the line-up by Raffi Torres - a rite of passage for those playing in the Western Conference.
JT Miller - A cup of coffee recall has turned into 16 games for Miller who has 4 points, but has earned Torts' confidence and gets significant minutes at times.
Beau Bennett - Has played all over the line-up, registering 5 points in 11 games, with a +6. Impressive for a guy who turned pro after only 47 games of NCAA hockey.
Dougie Hamilton - Continuing to impress all viewers, with 12 points in 23 games. Has received mostly sheltered defensive minutes, but that will come.
Brenden Dillon - Another UFA signing, Dillon is still a fixture in Dallas' top four, and has 6 points in 24 games. Ranks 7th among all NHL d-men in hits with 70.
Jake Allen - Injuries to Jaro Halak and terrible play from Brian Elliott have given Allen a chance to shine in St. Louis. Has posted 5 wins in 6 starts, with average numbers but strong reviews.
Danny Taylor, Jussi Rynnas, Christopher Nihlstorp and Richard Bachman - Although not all qualify as Calder-eligible rookies, all are #2/3 guys who have seen time at both AHL and NHL levels this year, with mixed results.

Frazer McLaren - beats people up. Knocks them the F out. Part of the Bay Bullies line. While a goon he does have use in front of the net and is capable of playing in all areas and situations. Plays for that team that can't make the playoffs or win the cup.
Brandon Saad plays top line minutes with Toews and Hossa. Took awhile to start putting up points but has been on a tear in March as he gains confidence. Plays in all areas and situations.

Well. 8 minutes after I wrote this he was sent down. That bites but his next AHL point gets me $1M so ill take it.
Paul Postma - logging decent ice time with the Jets and has shown glimpses of Offense. 23 GP 1 G 6 PTS 14:47 TOI. -3
While not spectacular as the Canucks I expect these 6 to at least fight for a spot on the Hawks next year. Saad, Johansen and Tatar project to top 6 fwd and Eakin most likely finding a home on the 3rd line. Postma will most likely wind up as a bottom pairing D-man PP specialist.
