Long-time LA Kings forward and team captain Jamie Benn has been dealt to the Tampa Bay Lightning. In exchange, the Kings receive center prospect Henrik Borgstrom, forward Brendan Gallagher, prospect Adam Mascherin and a 2019 4th round draft pick.

Benn, 29, was the Kings' 181st selection in the 2007 HFNHL Entry Draft. He played eight seasons with the club, collecting 455 points in 634 games while adding 45 points in 76 playoff contests. In 2011, Benn captured the HFNHL Stanley Cup in his rookie season.

"Jamie was a beloved player in our community and a leader on the ice" said GM McEwan. "We really can't say enough good things about him as both a player and an individual. He'll be missed by myself, his teammates and our fans."

In Borgstrom, the Kings receive a prospect who they feel can be a force up the middle in the coming years. Gallagher will be a welcome addition and will help replace the offense lost on the wing.

This move likely takes all-time Kings point leader Patrick Kane off the trade block, however, offers are still out there and the club may continue to re-tool leading up to the HFNHL draft.
