Merkley, Björnfot, Guhle, Studnicka, Veleno, Foudy and Pelletier are some of my favorite prospects at this point.

I think Merkley is a guy you start considering here . His d while a work in progress is improved, and offensively he has very high potential, coupled w elite skating.

I’m sorry but he’s not better than Quinn, McMichael, Norris, Brannstrom or even Tomasino... 10 spots you may have some merit of discussion but 20 or 30? That’s some homer bias right there.

Anyway; went with Guhle here anyway.

You're kidding, right?

One of these is the number 4 prospect, the other is Merkley. I’ll let you find out which.

You’re a smart guy. Why do you think he hasn’t been voted on yet?

Definitely not because he’s known to have major character issues that are still in question to this very day, or that in the past his defence was non-existent and still makes questionable decisions on D.

That being said, he’s still one helluva player and should probably go right around THIS range of players.

Surprised Jason Robertson isn't an option to add. Stars best forward prospect
Agree with this, didn’t even realize he’s not an option, he’s who i would vote for here all honesty.

IMO is on par with his brother (who i think is overrated anyway) if not better and just had a nearly PPG season in the AHL last year. Mark Stone lite for sure!

Definitely not because of a coach who has ostracized players in the past and how there’s no evidence of character issues when he leaves that shit show of a team.

Stats don’t lie, people do :sarcasm:

Edit: now in all seriousness, yes he should have been voted A LOT earlier. I understand why he didn’t for people who haven’t followed him this season. He will really prove people wrong when he comes to the NHL.

big numbers in junior is one thing, producing at the pro level is another

see: Derek Pouliot, Ryan Sproul, Darren Radysh, Jon Blum, Stefan Elliot

not saying hes a bust, but he doesnt have a point in 6 AHL games. Lets see what he can do against big boys over a full season before saying hes a top 40 prospect.

Yeah that’s why I understand why he’s not higher but he definitely should be and will prove it this year.

the fact that he produced a lot with 3 different teams leads me to believe he'll be good.... although, I have no idea what his defensive game is like. Had a horrible +/- in Guelph, but +20 in London.

His brother has the skating advantage for sure though which would probably have him higher than Jason on most lists, but they're closer than people think or this list suggests

It’s definitely improved since he went to London. He’s never going to be some shutdown player but I imagine he will be EK style player (another player who’s defensive issues are way overblown). He probably won’t be EK in impact, but play style.

"Probably won't be EK in impact"

Your comments in this thread in regards to Merkley won't age well.
