I think Seth Jones jumps up into Norris contention next year. I know the Preds needed a center but their defense would be ridiculous if they had kept him

I kind of agree but who else do you have at #1?

The 2 who have fought for the title of #1 for the past few years - Karlsson and Doughty - have both had issues last year, so i understand some not voting for them. No one else has stepped up enough - consistently enough - to be unseat them. I'm ok with Hedman at #1 even though i'd personally have him behind the other 2.

All 3 benefit greatly from reputation imo - but I think that's actually fine and deserved.

IMO there are several better D. I think if Slavin was in Tampa he'd have a higher stock than he does. He's elite defensively and he would be putting up 40-50 on that team.

Doughty over Gio or Burns is a damn joke. He’s all reputation now. I know Burns and Giordano are over 30 and that plays into people's perceptions, but damn, we’re talking about the best D in the league at this moment and 1 and 2 should be the Norris winner and the runner up.

If we're going to diminish down Doughty as "all reputation" category then you should apply that same stance to Erik Karlsson and Victor Hedman as well then.

I voted Doughty, Jones and Giordano/Pietrangelo in that order.
(Btw Karlsson should be given a Sharks logo not a Senators one)

The guy who won the Norris probably isn’t going to crack the top 5 D in the league right now.

I think people often confuse this as a value poll or a “who would you rather have” poll and the older guys get overlooked even though they’re clearly better right now

So what? A year ago if people were asked to name the best player in the world - even the top 3 - do you think anyone - literally, anyone named Taylor Hall? I don't think so.

Reputation should and does count. And no other D has stepped up consistently enough to overtake them at the top yet.
