Couturier.

Back-to-back 30+ goal, 76-point seasons with Selke-level defense and deployment.

Guy plays 22 minutes a night with 2+ on the PK.

53%+ CF%.

5.6% and 7% CF% relative.

~45% OZS.

Guy puts up great numbers while still playing a defense-first game.

Very few players are saddled have been saddled with the degree of difficult usage that Couturier has faced the last 2 seasons, yet he has dominated the opposition while on the ice. He's Bergeron level right now, even if not yet perceived as such by national media.

Point is so much better than Stamkos. If you don’t watch the players play then don’t f***ing vote.

Couturier is probably who should be winning this though.

Maybe I'm still stuck in 2017, but Kopitar is my choice. IMO, if he can rebound, he's on the same tier as guys like Barkov and Bergeron, who went much higher in the poll.
I started thinking this way, but then considered that Couturier really isn't that far off from that kind of pedigree right now.

Doubt he’ll win for awhile, but I’m going to start the campaign for Seguin. Scores over 70 points each of the last 6 season, even in years he’s been injured. His all around game is much improved he can be trusted in all situations. I’m not sure how many times Seguin hit the post/crossbar this season, but I’m pretty sure he led the league in it. Still scored 33G, 80P on a team that struggled with offence.

Stamkos should be right after or before Tavares, but Point is above both of them.

I like Couturier, but I'm surprised there's so much love for him suddenly because Aho destroyed him in a poll I made not too long ago

Sebastian Aho Versus Sean Couturier
Polls like this can be weird because people usually like a certain "type" of player and value them more highly than others, and those votes kind of eat into one another. Like I can guarantee right now that a lot of people that like Couturier also like Kopitar and O'Reilly and would put them above a player like Stamkos, but those votes kind of eat into one another, same as Stamkos eats away at votes for other centers that are more offensively inclined. I still think it gives you a fair representation of what people think, but no system is perfect for ironing things like this out.

45% OZS isn't exactly abuse. Plus don't forget most shifts start on the fly. I think OZS gets overstated a little bit w.r.t usage.

There are a lot of guys on this list much better offensively than Couturier.

Among centers over the last 2 seasons, Couturier ranks 11th and 12th in cumulative ES/All Strength scoring. While his scoring is right there with the best, using point totals doesn't even begin to describe the quantitative 3-zone impact he has on play.

While imperfect and not the end all be all, Couturier has the highest Goals Above Replacement and Wins Above Replacement of any player in the NHL the last 2 seasons. Not centers. All players.

The Flyers have been a 1 line team that turns into a bottom 5 team without him on the ice. Even Giroux craters -- though not entirely his fault -- when playing apart from him, which isn't true in the reverse. No Flyers player except Gudas was above 50% in xGF%, CF%, or GF% over the last 3 years apart from Couturier.

Kuznetsov is 10th in C pts over the last 2 years and literally 1 year ago had the best (statistically) playoff run of the decade.

But the point difference between him and several others left is marginal and he's the worst defensively on this list

even though that is nice, IMO havig a 20 point gap is too big even if the player is elite defensively.

Stamkos then Eichel.
Stamkos is a leader on the best team in the NHL, with an impressive resume. Eichel went PPG on a bad team, but should continue to grow with the rest of his team.

Then it will be the Point, Couturier, O'Reilly, Seguin area.
