To nobody's surprise, Cale Makar runs away with the #1 spot. Shane Bowers added.

Easy choice here. Byram has the highest ceiling of anybody left on the board, although I'm not 100% certain he ever reaches the most lofty peaks of that ceiling. Still though, he's a safe bet to be a #2D at least and that's more than can be said for anybody else in the pool.

I'm going to say add Helleson... Meloche's lack of upward progress in the AHL and lack of a clear role here makes me a little wary, and I really, really like Helleson's projection going forward. Him going the NCAA route is encouraging because it always seems like our prospects stall once they enter the pro system. Hopefully he spends 2-3 years there and steps right into the NHL and dodges that roadblock.

The next one should be interesting. Will shiny toy Newhook take it or Kaut who was picked the same spot a year ago? Timmins or too many question marks? Should be much tighter than these first 2 rounds, that’s for sure.

Not because I think Newhook is 100%, but I'd be really surprised if the new shiny does not win.

Do you think many feel like guys don't develop in the AHL and have greater confidence when guys go the college route?

I wouldn't say don't develop at all, but I personally am not very confident due to comments from players lately. Hopefully that improves with them being in Colorado. Or hopefully since they are in Colorado they don't think they can take a more lax approach.
