There's a few of us that have discussed the idea of having a rec league team based out of the Ice House or similar. Wish my knees were up to snuff anymore, but I'd be absolute garbage anymore since 90% of my game was based on being a quick little ****er.

adapt your game because that still needs to happen

also, i recommend the ice plex over the ice house. it is much easier on knees due to the larger ice surface and less dreadful ice quality

I would totally be down for an intramural team at an ice skating rink.

Unfortunately for everyone involved, I can't skate, nor can I stickhandle. Nor have I ever held a stick on the ice.

I think I'll just take Westgarth's role here.

the lowest level league at the ice plex is 95% people who have seemingly never skated, stickhandled, or held a stick on the ice, so you would probably fit in perfectly

You should be an old-school stand-up goalie.

I'd be down for playing some hockey, but I don't know whether I'd even be eligible for an intramural team as a non-student.

I'm not great at any of those either, but I'll be down for any of them. I'm most interested in ball hockey, football, softball, and dodgeball.

Are you a fast sprinter?

If not, can you chuck a football 40 yards?

If you answered yes to either of these questions, than 4v4 flag football may work!

I'd definitely be down to play ball hockey! Really I'll play anything as long as we play in the easiest division. I'm pretty competitive, but I don't really want to be going against folks who actually know what they're doing and get my butt kicked lol.

Side note: Do you know one of the Political Science prof. at State? Had him for a semester, and he played goaltender for one of the rec leagues (as well as making more references to Martin Brodeur then seemed necessary).

Also used to work for the general assembly and the treasury downtown. Ring any bells?

The fall semester (so I don't know if they carry over into the spring) is divided into 3 groups.

Group A is the ridiculously competitive one. For flag football, it's the frathouse league.

Group B is middle.

Group C is casual.

Group B is easily the most popular, since it has lesser quality of teams, but also has a playoff format (Group C doesn't).

Ball hockey would be fun, especially since I doubt there will be too many people that are really experienced with the game.

I would be a receiver if we played football. If we could get enough people I would prefer to play ball hockey

We only need 4 people (3 skaters + a goalie) according to the rules page I posted earlier, but we could easily have more if we wanted subs. It also says that NCSU will provide any equipment, including stick/ balls/ goalie gear which is pretty rad. Although I'll probably bring my own stuff since I have it.

If we get enough interest I'll take the initiative and sign us up and everything, I've been itching to play hockey forever!

Shepherd. Of course the hockey player would be in charge of the beer program :thumbu:

I've met Lucas but didn't realize he was at State until I tried to figure out who you meant. Cool beans.

lucas is a phd candidate at btec. i had both as professors at btec for my intermediate and large scale upstream cell culture classes.

basically beer brewing, the class

I have never once played the game. I can skate mostly without falling down. I'm old and likely to shatter a hip. Can I play?

Well I can be a skater, I don't have any equipment, but I might have a stick. I can find a goalie, but I'm not sure if he will have time since he is studying nuclear engineering.
