correct, not possible to trade 1st round picks (if they were good selections) when you're not allowed to use picks in the trade (vetoed or weird 3 pick max rule), and you've already made a handshake 2 for 2 player deal.

You're essentially only able to deal a player for another player instead of a normal trade with +s added

nothing, LT's rules essentially allows for 3 trades at most. The 3rd being a very limited one that doesn't work for most 1st round selections
