What is everyone's game of the year? Nominate your choice(s) in the thread here then I'll open a poll.

Nominate as many games as you want
, there is no limit. Any console, mobile, or PC game.

Games with the most nominations will make the final poll so make sure to continue to nominate games even if they have already been posted.

Previous years:
2017 - The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild - 31%
2016 - Uncharted 4: A Thief's End - 20%
2015 - The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt - 35%
2014 - South Park: The Stick of Truth - 15%
2013 - The Last of Us - 29%
2012 - The Walking Dead - 20%
2011 - The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim - 48%

We'll deal with issues of what should/shouldn't count as they arise.

Game releases of 2017 for reference

I've been catching up on my backlog and am up to 2010. Is it a little late or can I nominate games for 2010 Game of the Year?

Do you play your backlog in chronological order? I bounce around.

But no, 2017 only :P
Doing some retro GOTY's for missing years after this one is done isn't a bad idea though.

I definitely play games in the same series in chronological order, so I get behind on some series that way. I generally try to more or less do that when it comes to the same genre, as well. I find it easier to appreciate and enjoy certain types of games (like shooters) if I don't get too used to more modern graphics.

But no, 2017 only :P

Oh, fine! Don't blame me if I necro-bump this thread 7 years from now, though.

I figured Zelda and Mario would be front runners at this point considering how popular they seem to be

Assassins Creed: Origins (duh)
Rocket League (Does that count? New to Swtich this year :) )
Skyrim VR
Uncharted: Lost Legacy

Also I may be alone in this one but Halo Wars 2 was fantastic.

Just thinking of games I loved that nobody has mentioned yet.

Much as I enjoy Fortnite, I really don't think Battle Royale games deserve contention for GOTY just because they're popular and easy to jump into. Both PUBG and Fortnite are in early access. The smash hit popularity doesn't change the fact that beyond the addictive and fun game play is a shallow and repetitive gaming experience that pales in comparison to the diversity of experiences and artistic effort found in other titles mentioned in this thread.

For me it's between Breath of the Wild or Horizon Zero Dawn
