Talk about early hot takes. The team did so well last year, you dump your coach at the first sign of trouble ? I realize the NHL coaching job is not stable, but still.

Um the guy is the 2nd longest tenured coach in NJ history

I don't know, if you watched that behind the scenes show on the NHL Network the guys really seemed to like him.

They do, expecially Hall - but when the team has 'compete' issues that are seemingly worse this season than any of Hynes' seasons in NJ... its not a good look

You'll have to forgive me. I should have said" with this squad of players". Or something like that. I like the players, they seem to like him, I think this is more on the players. Who knows tho.

Thats even worse! I like Hynes somewhat but id much rather it be a coaching issue than a roster/player attitude issue. One requires a lot of changes in personnel extending multiple seasons - the other requires just a new coach.

Im normally quite optimistic but Ive watched the Devils for a very long time and this is some of the worst displays of effort from a decent team ive seen in a Devils uniform

agreed. They'll probably still somehow put up 5 unanswered goals because Leafs, but I'd be shocked if they make the playoffs. i don't see much talent there after Hall and Nico

There's a lot of serviceable guys, and really to make the playoffs you just have to get hot for a stretch, so it's possible, but...

I don't know. Kinkaid is playing really well right now but he's not a good goalie. If Schneider can't become a #1 again I think they're toast.
