Pop Ups are rampant on this site and HFBoards needs to cut it out.

I refuse to chase blocking apps and avoid sites that allow this garbage. I can't even vote in the most recent poll as my vote just triggers another pop up.

I am considering leaving the site due to this....maybe if enough of us threaten to do the same then they will stop acting like an amateur porn site.

Yea it is annoying. Their hidden ads and when I click on something they randomly pop up.

I want to click on a thread, but randomly I can't because it takes me to an ad. So I have to refresh.
I want to click on "quote" to reply to someone, but randomly I can't because of the ads.

Like you, I also try to click to vote in the top prospects thread and at random times, I can't because of the ads.

There must be a way to stop it. It used to happen to me all the time and it just stopped for some reason. Assuming I did something by accident but I don’t get that anymore.

When I did, I stopped using my iPhone to post as it was infuriating.

I agree, it's really annoying. I'm willing to support the site but I became really fustrated with the whole experience and had to install an adblocker.

There are always risks and subsequent problems with ad blockers.....this site is shitting on long time members whose presence has driven their ad driven revenues.

Ads are to be expected nowadays, but it's more that they are so over the top/poorly designed on this site. There are lots of other forums who display ads with much better functionality.

Mobile is pretty bad too.

For the amount of time that most of you spend on here. To eliminate these issues. It's worth it to pay the 12 bucks and just become a sponsor.

...he can't become a MOD...he's our Yoda, turning to the Dark Side would devastate us all and possibly cause Existence itself to cease...:eek3:

:biglaugh:
lol I'd pay good money to see @OldCraig71 become a mod.

Can you imagine this place with me as a mod? The shit that would take place after 9 pm each night.
Alright you freaking wahoos. I'm going for my nap, you better behave yourselves. lol

Agreed and it's also annoying that, hfboards have been around for what, 15 years? and they still can't figure out how to scale under load. Crashes every time there's a semi important trade. I'd be willing to pay if it was more professionally built; I just spend more time on reddit and less here these days.

Sorry for taking this thread off topic @Estimated_Prophet.

Being a former Mod, I've never had to deal with the issues that you've explained in this thread. I'm usually pretty laid back, but I don't think I'd have the patience to go through what some of you have listed.

I was always under the impression that a simple pop up blocker would do the trick. I didn't realize that even with one. You'd still be subjected to annoying ads.

I run a pi-hole on my network and set up a VPN connection so I can use it while away from home. Blocks ads across all devices and can also be configured to block the anti-adblocker popups. The web in general is an absolute heap of trash nowadays, and this makes it marginally better and more usable.

Don't care what anyone says, invasive ads are a menace and I'll never go back to having to see them.

...as someone who "gets taken to the Principle's Office" once in a while (or quite often, depending on your point of view ), I still wouldn't be down with you turning to the Dark Side...The Hockey Gods themselves would weep...

Makes sense, or use a different browser. Mine starts with O, it`s universal, has its own blocker you can control, never see ads, clean as a whistle.

Agreed, there's got to be ways around the pop up issue. My answer was to just pay the 12 bucks and be done with it. But if it can be done by simply changing your browser. Why not.
