Where does he play this season? Is he actually going to play 3rd line center? Because he is better than that obviously…

With Hanifin's mentioned 7x8 added to next season, with a 4 million cap bump, if Marchessault took 5 million we could possibly barely get a 22 man roster under the cap by keeping Dorofeyev under 1 million and letting Stephenson, Martinez, Amadio and Carrier walk.

That seems untenable though as we'd still have a problem in the middle six wing spots and only 12 forwards.

One of Hague or Whitecloud will have to go in the offseason to recoup us a 1st and give us some more cap room for Marchessault if he wants more and give space for the cheaper Korczak while having a little room to maneuver.

Hard to say for the middle 6. Maybe something like this if all are healthy:

Barbie - Eichs - Marchy
Stepho - Bill - Stone
Hertl - Roy - Mantha
Carrier - Howden - Kolesar

I think Bruce would like Stepho to be stapled to Stone.

If they make the playoffs, it's still a question with the recent run, and if Stone can play, he might be out for the first few weeks of the playoffs we don't know how his spleen will heal, is what McCrimmon said.

But if those both happen then I think one of two line combinations.

Barbashev-Eichel-Marchessault
Stephenson-Karlsson-Stone
Mantha-Hertl-Roy
Carrier-Howden-Amadio

Kolesar, Cotter, Dorofeyev, Brisson as extras
Or
Mantha-Hertl-Amadio
Some combo of Carrier/Roy/Howden/Kolesar as the fourth line

If Stone is coming back in the playoffs my guess is they'd probably want him with guys he's familiar with.

Y'know, no matter which of Roy & Hertl is playing C on a line together (I think Roy because he's seemingly much better at C than on the wing) Hertl should take all the draws. Nearly as good as Bill on the dot.
