Hopefully later this season, Patrice Bergeron will become the 5th player to have played 1,000 regular season games for the Bruins.

The Top 2 are obvious - Ray Bourque 1,518 and John Bucyk 1,436

#3 and #4 not so much. Neither player has their number retired but #3 still works for the team.

I suspect most of you will be surprised.

Krejci will likely end up 6 on list

When this player retired he was the last player to play in the 6 team NHL

Now there's a good morning chuckle if I've ever read one. You just know at least a handful of folks around here are angry over this information :)

I knew Sweeney, but didn't even think of Cashman, though. I agree with @HockeyMomx2 that probably chaps a few asses on here  Sweeney never got the love that Bourque or Neely got, but he is pretty much a Bruin to his core and I have never questioned his commitment to the club as a player or as a front office guy.

Sweeney's one, don't know the other.

Dale Arnold's got a couple of good Sweeney stories in his book.

Kind of amazing that a team with almost 100 years of history only has four, almost five players with 1000 games with the club. Guess that's not as common as I thought.

Surprised myself by getting this right,.

Somewhat surprised Cashman isn't out there collecting a salary from the Bruins org for something

Cashman when he retired in 1983 was the last active player who suited up in the 6 team league playing 1 game in 1964

He came up for good in 1967 but they had 12 teams then

Had Orr not been hurt he may have played until 1988 which would have put him at 40 and against Gretzky and Lemieux and been the last player to play pre expansion 1966-67

Had the Bruins had a healthy Orr they could have had
Orr
Park
Bourque

Nice dream

The same SHOULD be said for Neely
