Seems I read about a hazing incident in the past 10 years regarding hockey players at the University of Vermont.

Maybe not involving a broomstick, but cookies between the cheeks.

Hazing is still very common. The level of hazing varies, but the majority of teams still have some sort of hazing ritual.
