Jokiharju for Willy and they sign Petro with the saved cap space...oh wait stan already dealt joki for Willy brother

You have to plan for expansion draft TWO years in advance though. Come on man. What are you thinking? You also have to rip Joker for a 20 game stretch all the while pumping up Nylander for the 1 thing he did good in the 10 minutes he gets through 60 games. The HF way! And if you don’t agree with it you don’t watch games and you’re dumb.

no way I want to sign Petro at his age and the length of contract he will want. he is not going to play at this level for much longer...

Seabrook will not sit forc4vyeara as tge#7..has to pkayvforvthat moolah ...Ifvhe cannot play defense then make him a 4RW...you just do not sit when they pay you that huge
$6.875 million per on Cap...sos top making imaginary fantasy lineups where he fails to make any of the 3d pairs and just sits as tgev7th D...not gonna happen unless they movebhom to forwardc...then hevcan avoid a pairing on the D.

As tobteafing Keith to get rid of that problem (he who fell over the cliff)...even IF some team wanted him at his age,cap number, and uselessness now,do nit forget ....IF he retires early before his deal finishes,Hawkscgetcsyuck on re-capture cap penalty..

So Jawjs cannot risk trading him.

Krug+Petro =pipedream ...
....cause Keith and Seabs in stucksville...they doom us to another torturous year in the d-corps.

I’ve never gotten the expansion draft-worries. At worst you lose a #4/5 Dman or a bottom 6 winger. Unless you do something dumb like Florida did with Marchessualt.

Trading Jokiharju most likely had absolutely nothing to do with the expansion draft and more to do with dealing from a position of strength (d prospects) to a position of weakness (forward prospects).

Or a Anaheim, or Minnesota, or a couple others.

You can lose top pair or top line talent when you just ignore it for years but have too many Dmen to protect.

Yeah getting Theodore was a ridiculously great pull

Marchessualt AND Smith. The two guys that f***ed the Hawks the hardest in the series with Vegas this year lol. Thanks Dale.

Definitely fair points..Vegas went a different route than anybody first assumed they would by getting teams to pay up picks to not take players, which Seattle might not do...IIRC, Vegas had a lot of picks they acquired from not selecting certain players and they had a lot of one year contracts that were likely to be flipped at the TDL for more picks but they just so happened to be an awesome team and they kept a lot of that initial core there and built around them by trading picks they had acquired from the expansion draft...Suzuki and Brannstrom who they acquired by accepting to take Chris Thorburn from WPG and Berube from NYI were traded for Patches and Stone...Long winded way of saying Vegas struck lightning in a bottle and probably intended to tank and accumulate a bunch of picks but ended up being great and Seattle might go for a better roster via expansion draft because Vegas was a perfect storm that is likely a basement dweller in most scenarios given how that team looked on paper after the expansion draft...Teams might lose more actual talent on paper this time around if Seattle tries to compete right away...

Makes more sense for Detroit, who the hell do they have on their back end these days anyways? Prolly doesn’t hurt that he’s from the mitten either.

Blackhawks can't afford him, and while he's obviously a huge upgrade over what we have, he's not a game-changer worth blowing a ton of assets or cap space on.

Detroit is gonna back up a Brinks truck for the guy

I think Yzerman is too smart and too patient to try and rush a rebuild by overpaying for a 2nd pair D in free agency.

Teams outside of Florida lost a lot more than a 4/5 D. Theodore is a good example of that.
