McDavid 21 is such an easy winner the whole tournament.

Best Hart season since Lemieux 93.

Disagree.

If it was 82 games/normal season yes. It being 56 games/unusual circumstances automatically makes it much more difficult to compare to full seasons. I think it's in contention maybe - but I lean towards McDavid in 2023 as the better season.

But yes - this is better than Perry of course.

Sure that argument is very strong but it's also an unusual season with an unbalanced schedule.

That being said it's going to be hard to beat.

There are a few wonky Hart wins due to someone else missing time, and Perry is one of them.

It’s simply that elite. The domination over peers is legitimately Big 4 level and in terms of era adjustment is better than anything outside of a peak Gretzky or Lemieux for ppg. The only seasons that I’d put above it since 1980 are 82 through 87 Gretzky, 89 Lemieux and 93 Lemieux with 23 McDavid being right there in this realm as well.

His peers that season were only the players on the 7 Canadian teams, hard to compare to a 20+ team league

That’s a fair and popular view which is why I suspect that 23 McDavid may win this tournament but either season is worthy in my view. The next closest non teammate in the North division was Marner with 67 points and 38 points back. McDavid beats that off of even strength points and assists alone. Marchand with 69 points is the closest non teammate in the NHL and assists alone still wins there.

For me 2023 McDavid showed that an 82 game version of 2021 McDavid was possible and the dominance ratios he had in both seasons over the closest non teammate (153 vs 113 Kucherov and 105 vs 69 Marchand) are the two best we have seen in a very long time. 1.52 and 1.35 ratios for 2021 and 2023 respectively with 2021 being the best over a non teammate other than 82-87 Gretzky seasons of the last 45 years. Last time we saw something in this realm was 96 Mario over Sakic at 1.34. I completely get why you and others see it the way you do but I believe 2021 McDavid doesn’t have any issues with it to keep it from winning.

I'm salty about Daniel Sedin not winning this year so they would have had back to back Hart and Art Ross trophies.

Feel both St. Louis and Daniel deserved it that year Probably was dragged down by Henrik and Stamkos being 4th and 5th in scoring.

Wasnt like Perry lacked help either. Getzlaf played 67 games at 1,13 PPG and Selanne 73 games at 1,10 ppg. 6th and 8th in ppg.

Crosby would have won if not injured 1,61 PPG in 41 games. Malkin was also out, but during te time he played only had around 0,8 PPG.

Would have been interesting to see what Crosby could have done in what would have been in his prime without injuries. Now most will see McDavid as the superior player, but if Crosby was able to play and gone around 1,60-1,70 in 10/11, 11/12 and 12/13 which he was pacing for he would be far ahead of the league and not far behind McDavid in a lower scoring era.
