Speculation: Harry Neale Laid Off

I thought it was a good idea to let him go from his color commentary role, though Rob Ray has been a disaster as a replacement. I liked Neale in his role last season and would have preferred to see him remain in it, but alas. Not a big deal either way.

I liked Ray's "between the benches" role with occasional commentary and reporting. He had a nice player's perspective/blue collar style that was, IMO, well suited for those brief comments and observations.

His role as color guy provides us with too much Ray and too many Razorisms.

Harry Neale was always in the NHL 2k games. That's where I knew him from when I first heard him on the Sabres games.
