Name some players who were known as good hitters, despite being of average size.

---

Vladimir Konstantinov (5'11, 185 lbs) - Arguably the most feared defensive player in the league (along with Scott Stevens)

Peter Forsberg (6', 190 lbs) - One of the few players I've seen who could hit while he had the puck.

Doug Gilmour (5'11, 172 lbs) - Not sure about this one, but I've seen highlights were "Killer" knocked down players like Steve Smith and Marty McSorley (about 230 lbs).

I'm not a huge fan of Bouillon (I want my habs to get rid of him asap) but he's really an incredible hitter pound for pound, no better yet inch for inch.

Nik Kronwall is a great hitter and he's listed at 6'0, 192 lbs.

In the past, Leo Boivin sounds like he fits the bill. Apparently he was one of the hardest hitters in the league at 5'7, 177 lbs.

Francis Bouillon and Mike Peca are the best I've seen.... Even tough Stevens wasn't that big.

They list Bouillon at 5'8... And I'm not sure about that.

Bouillon is by QUITE far the best inch for inch I've seen (in the modern NHL anyways, it's tough to compare him with the likes of Leo Boivin or even Bucko McDonald). But the guy is nearly 200 pounds, so we ain't exactly talking about a featherweight.

I've met him. I'm 6', 200lbs or so. He seemed alot smaller than me, both in height and size. I'd guess 5'7, 180lbs at most. I have a hard time believing the 190-200lb claim.

I'll add Dallas Drake, Steve Webb, and Jeremy Roenick to the list. I would guess Steve Downie as well in the near future.

I'm BARELY 5'8 and I'm taller than him, so I guess they really rounded up. I totally believe the 195 pounds claim however.

Cam Neely

Whhaatt? Neely was a great hitter, but we aren't talking about a midget here...

Indeed. Neely was a freak of nature, but he was also huge.

6ft1 220 pounds, most of it muscle. Not exactly small. He is the same Height as Iginla, but outweighs him by almost 15 pounds.

I have a feeling he is not what the Original Poster was looking for

You don't have to be a midget to be the best pound for pound hitter. On that note I will say Scott Stevens.

Indeed, but the three guys mentionned in the OP were weighting less than 200 pounds, and only one of them was 6'. So we kinda understood that the bar was set at : below 6' and 200 pounds. Neely obviously fails here.

Wendel Clark is the guy that I thought of right away. Remember Bruce Bell? Now that was a hit! I swear Clark had to have slept on a bed of nails to get that tough
