Here is the only known video of Arthur Fiedler conducting on July 4th (from 1976)

It obviously was recorded in the CBS production truck as the video shows Charles Collingwood waiting for Walter Cronkite to throw the network to Boston but the audio stayed with the Pops.

Older Bostonians will chuckle at the MDC stencils everywhere at the Hatch Shell.

Enjoy

I saw Arthur Fiedler with the pops years ago and it was a treat.

Today starts a weeks vacation for me so it is a good day.

Stay safe USA....I am a bit worried with all of the threats .

Happy Birthday America!

I took this last night at Fenway. The US Army Parachute Team did a show over the park pregame. It was amazing.

Happy Birthday to the best country in the whole wide world!

No one played the unsung “The Star-Spangled Banner” better than Jimi Hendrix. I have no doubt that the way Jimi played the Star Spangle Banner back than was his way of expressing the challenges the country was facing at the time, with all its craziness and imperfections and even at times just outright ugly, and at the same time capturing all that is beautiful with our country with that patriotic feeling that has always made my hairs stand.

Those squeals of his guitar depicting incoming bombs bursting in air, as I heard someone say once. This tune is just as relevant today as it was back than.

Remember Jimi Hendrix did serve in the U.S. Army’s famed 101st Airborne.

USA USA USA!!! :yo::yo::yo::yo:

One of the best Hendrix solo's I ever heard. Acid is such a powerful drug :laugh::laugh:
