I highly doubt Patches and Plex finish top 5 in scoring so I'll go with no.

Patches yes but both no and so I can see other teams with more goals scored than us at year's end, but you never know.

Sorry if it's badly explained (my english suck), but I mean the habs as a team to finish top 5, not individual players.

Last year, they scored 221 goals (2.7 goals per). They need about 250 to reach top 5. It's 3.11 goals per game.

So at season start it was 29 goals to find.

No problem. I was saying Patches should be able to finish top 5 but I don't know if the team will.

Because the Habs play such a different style this year vs last, if they continue with it they have a decent shot to be a top 5 offense.

If they revert back and hit a couple of soft spots it will be much harder.

Considering they Habs strength is defense, I'd bet they don't finish top 5 mainly because there are teams like Pittsburgh, Dallas etc that are built to score goals.

So I'd say more than 50% chance they don't finish top 5, sorry.

250? So they need to score 220 goals in the remaining 74 games, that's almost 3.0 (2.97) goals per game. I think that's feasible especially if they keep playing the way they do now.

Haha don't be sorry - I ask because i'm not that sure :P. But my money is on the table anyway.

Last year :

Pacioretty : 37 (6)
Plekanec : 26 (5)
Gallagher: 24
Galcheyuk : 20

Subban : 15
Eller : 15
Desharnais : 14
Markov : 10
Weise : 10

PaP : 8
Sekac-DSP : 8
DLR: 4
Prust: 4
Gilbert : 4

Remaining of club : 16 (already 5)

If you would have asked me a month ago I would have laughed, hard.

It's entirely possible, I still don't believe however that it's likely even if this is the new system. We just don't have that kind of firepower. Top 10? I think that's plausible.

Possible if they continue playing the style they are now. If they start going back to a overly defensive system then it is not likely.

They'll hit a slump, which is perfectly normal, and everyone will be running around like chickens with their heads cut off asking us to trade half the team, kill DD and Therrien, etc.

They might finish in the top 5, but I don't think so.

Do you guys think this is a realistic statement.

Discuss.

(I put 500$ on habs to finish top 5).

It's good to dream, but no. We should be happy that the team can score at all after what happened last season. 8 games are a small sample in a season!

I think Patch will get injured and miss 15-20 games, so no, I don't think the Habs will finish Top 5 in scoring. Top 10-15 sure

It would be asking a lot considering we were pretty low last year in terms of scoring but I think they finish around 7th or 8th in scoring. The more offensive system coupled with a 3rd line that is being used to exploit along with the 4th line taking more defensive responsibilities should be a huge boost. It depends on the powerlay. Average we finish 7th or 8th, good we finish 4th to 6th and bad we finish 10th to 12th

Uh... we were 20th in scoring last season, not 7th or 8th.
