huh you think the argument that every other team look at every candidate is from me ?

A strawman is when you attempt to mischaracterize the position of your opponent in order to distract from what they are actually saying and ridicule an argument they didn't make. No one said everyone looks at every single option available.

...he's making reference to me and I said back then that if a Franchise does not do their due diligence and review every viable option that meets their requirements for the position, they aren't doing their jobs and I stick by that...this isn't hiring at the Gap, it's a multi-billion dollar enterprise and all viable candidates that meet the requirements should at least be preliminarily reviewed...that's how you find the BEST candidate for the job...not a hard concept for most, but for him it seems difficult to grasp...

He didn't say it in this thread, the one we are talking in now. Nor did anyone else in this thread before you came in with "you guys actually believe they look at all options".

I don't know what he said before. But it doesn't refute my argument.

If, let's say, some organization (Habs excluded) is looking for a new GM. And let's say they brainstorm 5 guys. The pool they brainstorm from isn't limited from the get-go by a requirement which immediately cuts off the majority of available candidates. If an incredible unilingual anglophone GM becomes available who could help this team win a cup, we cannot hire him. That's a fact. The policy is more important than the success of the team. This is not only true the last time we needed a GM or the time before that or the next time (whether or not an anglophone GM was a good candidate or not). This is true as long as this policy remains. 31 other teams competing for the same thing we are don't care.

Does not change the fact it was said, using those words, EVERY other org. EVERY available candidate. So when you say... you're wrong.

Claude Julien has been considered for every single coaching position available since he's been fired, same for Babcock, and for Arizona as well... right ?

Julien gets paid $5 million to sit at home and enjoy life for a year. He’ll very likely be back, just not until after he’s off our payroll.

I am anticipating his third run with us, after we rehire and fire Therrien the third time.

...Vigneault gets his 2nd turn first...probably takes Therrien with him, however, since he's Vigneault's PP guy in Philly...can you imagine letting Therrien run your PP??...that's like letting Forrest Gump run your Fortune 500 Company...

I counter with Vigneault as head coach, Toenails and Dauterive as assistants and Sly Lefebvre as video coach or something. The Bergevin dream team.

You're right, he'd be perfect. Bringing DD back as a PP specialist center to play alongside elite offensive d-man Gustafsson is also a must.

...yup...now I really wanna cry...

Insisting on French only coach's and managers is something I cant understand but acknowledge that I dont live in Quebec and am speaking as an outsider. But when you limit your search for those two important jobs your in effect reducing your talent pool exponentially.

i don’t understand why the Habs just don’t open the door to Anglo/American/European management to learn some French. In the European sports you have to almost learn a 2nd language as a requirement
