Habs trade Weber to Leafs for 2 1st's. Habs offer sheet Marner and Matthews at 12m and 15m. Impossible for Leafs to shed salary to match because of NTC's and Habs get their center.

Weber would be an ideal fit for the Leafs but with his age and the cost to acquire him wouldn't be worth it. Nylander + 1st or Liljegren. Would this guarantee a cup in the near future? Just trade for Simmonds and pray you dont face the Bruins in the 1st round or at least get home ice.

And we have no problem keepinng our #1 RHD and looking at the leafs getting ejected from the playoffs once again AND losing Gardiner in the process!

With that contract we couldn't keep Marner..... not a very tough choice

Weber might be playing is besy hockey in career. He was also very good last year when he played injured at the start of the year.

With the cap going up Weber contract is decent. Honestly I much rather have Weber at 7.8M then Doughty at 11.

He is clearly is a 15 D.

You would have more chance with Petry with that offer.

Sorry even that offer doesn’t get you Weber. Montreal has no use for a mid-to-late first and a soft 60 points winger who only make 900k less than Weber.

We easily pass but thanks for reaching out!

Toronto, Ontario
leafs:
Weber @ 50% retained

Habs:

2019 first
2019 2nd
2020 conditional 1st ( making the finals in either 2018 or 2019) else it is a 2020 2nd.
Andrea Johnsson

Why on earth would Montreal do this?

Shea Weber is not only an excellent defenseman, but you have Montreal retaining a massive amount of money, which they would have absolutely no reason to do.

Are you required to make horrible posts? How is it that you consistently post laughable, clueless posts in regards to the Maple Leafs.

This is straight up embarrassing.

29-31 pick
60+ pick
2020 60+ pick ( let's be honest, you Toronto doesn't have the D squad to go in finals)
an other B winger prospect.... like we don't have enough.

for weber at 4M

LMAO, im so f***ing dead, what is this shit ? Did you even think about the offer ? did you even look at Weber playing ?

"ohohoho for Giordano I will give you a bunch of mediocre picks"
- would Calgary do it ? no.

I think you are all drastically underrating Andrea Johnsson here... whoever she is I bet she's a nice lady.

This is horrible for the leafs. I got habs homers don't get hockey and think its just another in the long line of trades that embarrass their franchise but off are the leafs paying a ton to do the habs a favor.

Just to clarify, that's two seperate trades not one right?

Unless they found a way to clone Liljegren, it looks like two different proposals.
Toronto, did you clone Lilgegren?

That said, Toronto doesn't make this move using what it should consider to be its young core players. Mon. doesn't make the OP because the return of late picks is meh.

How much do you want to pull a bet that you won’t even get two firsts, 2nd and top nine winger for Weber when the time comes?

It's a good thing that Weber is on a cap circumventing contract and Montreal doesn't have to worry about cap recapture. But it's stupid to carry nearly 4 million of dead cap for that long for that small of return regardless of what you're giving up. And Weber is still a top D-man.

Weber is going to retire a Hab or a Pred. Off chance he'll be traded to an internal budget team.

There should be a rule on this board that anyone who puts forth a proposal and then doesn't return to post in the thread have their ability to create new threads taken away.
It would clean up a lot of the garbage posted around here.
