Fills an organizational need for Montreal, while I’m not sure if it does for Winnipeg. Can see an additional piece going Winnipeg’s way to make it happen since young D are pretty coveted.

Its fine you have no interest in Niku. And he doesnt fit a need for the Habs. But to say he is far from being a top 4 guy, and may not get there is obsurd. You should read the scouting report on him before making that observation.

I mean no disrespect but he’s 23 and still going back and forth between NHL and AHL - spending more time in the AHL than NHL.

So yeah, definitely not a top 4 guy. Probably a borderline NHL defenseman right now and the odds of him become a reliable top 4 D isn’t all that great, although not impossible. It’s not like he’s 20 anymore.

Hes been injured this year. Thats why he's in the ahl right now. Just dealing with Injuries. Otherwise he be in Jets top 4

niku is 23 now

jets defensive lineup is one of the worst in the league and niku can only get one game so far?

AHL success is nice, but doesnt necessarily mean anything at all

He’s got 17 games in total. He’s missed what, 7-8 games total? Whatever the injury was it wasn’t that serious. Also, how come he can’t get a call up right now? Can’t he beat Bitetto, Dahlstrom, Kulikov or Sbisa?
