But Bourque can play RW.

If Bourque can play RW.. then I fully expect to see him on the right if our youngsters don't take the spot..

That means Bonerval in the LW spot on the 3rd line, but most likely Prust knowing Therrien's mancrush.

I'd take a shot at Booth on a 1 year 1 million dollar deal though.

While what you say is true, just to get a face off specialist will do wonders for my anger management. For the last 5 or more years, we couldn't do squat on the dot. It was as if, here in Montreal, we didn't believe in that aspect of the game. Maddening.

Malholtra. Been sleeping?

I must have missed all the dissapointment last year until the trade deadline when king thomas our savior was crowned.....and i can't seem to recall the part where vanek had anything to do with us going all the way to the eastern conference finals..because he hardly did. Gimme someone who's not gonna dissapear in may.

He was inconsistent. But you're ignoring his contribution.

No way. Have you seen the teams they have to play against in the west?

Exactly this.

Chicago, St-Louis, LA, Anaheim, SJ, Minnesota, Colorado, Dallas were last year's playoff teams. All got better, or at least stayed the same.

Whom exactly is Vancouver overtaking?

He signed with Vancouver so he is not a winner in my books, just in it for the money. Next!!!

I'm disappointed. Adding a talented player like Vanek at the deadline really helped.

I hope Andrighetto or Sepac are ready for the NHL.

Why should Vancouver management just give up and tank? It's even tougher for them to be as bad as Buffalo, Florida, Carolina, Calgary and Edmonton.

Damn that contract would have been perfect.

However, I'm a huge fan of going into camp letting Sekac and Andrighetto fight for a Top-9 spot.

Vancouver might be the worst canadian team in 2 years or so. They have the weakest prospect pool with the leafs, their core is pretty much past prime and they refused to retool the team.

Pretty much the same thing gainey did and it got us nowhere. So glad bergevin has a legit plan for once.

Toronto and vancouver are heading in the wrong direction for sure.

It's funny that you think Vancouver has a weak prospect pool. Some of the players who will be regulars on the team in the next two years include Bo Horvat, Hunter Shinkaruk, Frank Corrado, Brendan Gaunce and Niklas Jensen.

Why is Penner still not signed ? He's the weight we've been needing.

He's a bigger but slower Bourque. Not sure he fits the mold Berg is looking for. I think Berg learned from Briere, that talent trumps all. Briere filled the "let's add more French guys" demand, but if that player doesn't perform, he's useless.
Penner would add size, but also probably a healthy scratch due to inconsistency.

Nothing close to elite in that and capable of replacing the sedins production.

Vancouver is 2 years away from becoming a bottom feeder.

No to those three and the other two are maybes.

Their prospect pool is very thin.

In comparison with pretty much every club in the league..their pool is shallow. The Canucks had not drafted well at all in the past few years.

Horvat stagnated this year and may not be a top two center in the NHL, Shinkaruk has a lot of flaws and missed an entire season with injury, Gaunce lacks NHL offensive upside because of his skating, Jensen lacks grit and consistency, and Corrado has fourth or fifth dman upside. Even worse..there's not much after the five you mentioned and this year's draft picks. Habs' prospect pool goes much deeper.

Im glad we didnt get Vrbata at that price. 5m$ is too much even for 2 yrs. Let's see what sekac/andriguetto can do... Although i think Sekac has a better chance at 6"2 195 than 5"9 sven.

I'm actually very happy about this. Didn't see him on the Habs. Doesn't have the gumption to play on a team like ours. Rather wait and take advantage of the cap space we have and get a player who actually fits our needs rather that try to fit a square peg in a round hole.
